Just bought my first G35. It's an 06 sedan with 160000 miles. The car had been sitting up for about 6 months because the battery died and the owner thought there was something major wrong with the car. After getting another car the owner lost the key. All windows and sunroof were left open so you can see why it looks the way it does. Mississippi heat kills. I'll post more pics after it gets cleaned up and back on the road.
$850 is good even if it's just for the chassis as long as you're willing to do some work. There are plenty of these cars out there to start rebuilding. Get to it OP. Start making a list of everything that needs replacing and then post a WTB thread here and keep an eye on your local Craigslist for idiot kids who crash these all the time nowadays. Should be able to have a very nice car for around $4-5k+ work.
Hopefully you can do your own work tho, or you're screwed.
Ok so far I've driven the car about 50 miles. I'm putting it to the test today though. Driving 6 hours from Mississippi to Chatanooga Tn. Been doing pretty good. The few things I'll need are: window motor, automatic shift ****, headlight, battery cover, left front inner fender well, a lot of cleaning and some tlc. Also my right rear door will not open. Any ideas?
Cleaning supplies? Stock up on Meguiars APC and Meguiars Super Degreaser. Works WONDERS on the car. I just cleaned my 05 g35 with 125k with APC (4:1 for Heavy areas (carpet, leather, trim) and used Super Degreaser (10:1 for super bad areas (tires/engine bay/wheel well/exterior jambs etc). Its $20 per Gallon but it lasts for a long long time. Concentration ratio is Water to Solution (so 4:1, is 4 parts water 1 part solution).
Nope, no tarp. It actually stayed out in the open for the first few months before it was finally moved into a carport. The smell wasn't bad but I am slowly getting the interior cleaned up and will be taking all the seats and door panels to have them reupholstered.
I probably have about $2500 in it now. I made the 6 hour drive to Tennessee and found out I needed an inner tie rod. Once I got it to the shop, j found out I needed a tie rod, control arm and ball joints. That was $620 I wasn't expecting to spend. Also the car was misfiring on cylinder 5 so that was another $60 for a coilpack. Now she runs and drives like a dream. Just need struts and cleaning now. Oh I did find out that the passenger rear door has something broke or disconnected with the exterior door handle. So you can't open the door from the outside and the child lock is apparently on so you can't open it from the inside either. Anyone have any ideas on that one. I would prefer ideas that don't cost me anymore money right now.
you need to get the door panel off so you can get to the outside handle, if the windows down it's going to be even harder. I don't think you can take the door panel off with the door closed, you might need a new one when you're done.
