Can I add pwr assist seating to my 6mt??

I was reading the owners manual today and I noticed that for the most part, the wiring for the seat memory features is pretty much the same for the manual and automatic transmissions. The only (big) difference is that the auto owners have the power seating assist feature when you exit the car. How difficult would this be to add to the 6mt? All of the buttons and wiring is the same.

I can live without the intelli-key and the rear HVAC units, but the seating feature is something I'm sure we could have added if we knew the right person.

I'd like to know, too... Is it just an unconnected plug, or is it programmed in the ECU to be disabled...

It's interesting, that on the side of the driver seat in my 6MT, there is still that AUTO/CANCEL switch for the feature... makes me wonder how "fully" it is disabled. Obviously, some parts are still there...

I want to figure this out, so after thinking about it a little bit, I decided to investigate the switch.

I took off the plastic driver's side seat cover with the switches mounted in it... and took apart the "Auto/Cancel" switch and ran a continuity tester across the wires - bad news. They are "ON" when the switch is in "Cancel" and "OFF" when the switch is in "Auto" - so it's not just a simple wiring disablement at the switch point - the switch works - so it's disabled somwhere else. Now we have to trace the wires...

The 2 thin wires going into the switch were solid brown and green with red stripe. The exited the switch (directly - no connector) and went into the loom...

Do you guys know that the memory seat feature works in our 6mt? We have the memory feature, but not the in/out assist feature.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but your posts made me think that you're not aware of the auto-seat feature.

Yes - I am fully aware that the memory seats work. But the switch next to the memory settings (the Auto/Cancel switch) is for the power assist feature - which is what is de-activated in the 6MT - even though we still have the switch.

Anyway, the 2 wires out of the Auto/Cancel switch go into a plug, and their respective colors on the other side of the plug are blue/yellow stripe and pink/black stripe. These go into that big white box (~7X3X1 inches) under the front portion of the seat - which is what everything plugs into under the seat - probably a control boxfor the seats, memory, heaters, etc.

I can see a PCB in there... I wonder if there is a jumper on that PCB for 6MT/Auto trannies that sets the difference. I wonder if there are 2 versions of that white box - one for 6MT cars, and one for Auto cars... If so, then that's probably where the feature is deactivated. If not... well it might be in the main ECU. Ugh.

It just seems like if they would take the trouble to deactivate the setting in the main ECU, they would have taken the trouble to make a plug for that hole in the side of the seat and not install an Auto/Cancel switch on 6MT cars... somewhat wishful thinking, I know.
