Where can you get the 350z springs besides the dealer?

A lot of times owners of 350z's will sell their springs on one of 350z boards, or ebay or through friends.....

Ebay or register on my350z.com and simply wait for someone to post a sale thread. Typical transaction price is $70 shipped, can't beat that for a linear 1" drop spring.

Can't really go wrong with a 1" drop on the sedan, if you just want a 1/2" drop just get oem springs off a G coupe. The shortcommings of aftermarket springs for the G totally depend on if you are in the performance camp or in the comfort camp.

I have to say, I tested oem z springs with the oem sport shocks and I did not like the results, I quickly ended the test and tried another route. Most definately don't even think about running non sport shocks on oem Z springs.

Gsedan35, if you don't mind me asking, what were the results of the Z springs with the OEM Sport shocks that you did not like?

The oem sedan sport shocks are not valved tight enough to control the Z springs effectively IIRC. Not sure if that's just normal driving, driving towards the limits, or both.

The car rode great. Only down side outside of cornering was all the poor control of weight transfer came right back vs having the oem Z springs with oem Z shocks. Brake dive, squat as your on and off the gas and lessoned turn in performance. The problem was when you went to carry any kind of G load while turning. It felt rather unstable and underdampned as you took corners. And at higher speeds (the kind of corners you can take outside of town) the ill feeling worsened to the point that the final straw was a simple bend I took on the freeway at 80mph, feedback from the suspension told me, "you do that any faster and it might get very ugly". Didn't take me long to pull the setup off the car and try a different route.

This is what did work. Oem sport shocks + oem Z springs in the front + oem sedan sport springs in the rear on cut down upper spring seats. Drop equal's 1" front and 3/4" rear. Weight transfer control still wasn't very good, but at least the ride quality was good and nothing bad to report like my experience with the all oem Z spring setup. Here is a couple of pictures of my car with the setup (man I'm glad I fixed how the rear muffler hangs).

Here's a picture of the car on the oem 350Z suspension (meaning Z springs front and rear)

Here's a classifed ad from my350z.com oem coupe springs are in the ad.

(you'll have to be a registered member to log on, worth it for the volume of data you'll find on the site).

Gsedan35, thanks for you help and the information. I got a set of 350Z springs for cheap, and I'll try it out and see how it handles for me. If not, I remember a thread about you mentioning how you cut down the upper spring seats. I'll have to read up on that.

Thanks again!

By the way, your car looks great!!

I've been thinking of similar setup for my sedan, too.

However, I would like to try OEM Z springs w/ coupe struts and OEM coupe springs w/ coupe shocks.

I think this setup will give me 1inch drop in front and 0.5 inch drop in rear.

(I happend to have both OEM Z and coupe springs and OEM Z shocks/struts)

What do you think the end results of this setup?
