A little help for a Z owner...
Hi guys, I'm a 350Z owner from My350Z.com. I'd like to first say i'm sorry because this post is probably typical for a newbie. I'm having a few life changes in the up coming months (married/new home) and sadly the Z doesn't fit my life style anymore. Personally I think a G35 Sedan would fill its shoes very well. I really enjoy modding my cars...IMO nothing is perfect stock. I'm sad to see that my Volk wheels will not fit on a G sedan. My problem is the nearest Infiniti dealer is 75+ miles away in another state. Used G sedans are going for 25k where I live with miles in the mid 30s. I can't see paying that much for this car used. If someone could school me to the ways of the G35 sedan I would be so happy. What am I looking for in a used car? How well are they supported in the aftermarket? Is it a good car to drive year round...snow? What should I stay away from? Again I'm sorry for being such a typical new member but I really could use some honest opinions.
Welcome to the forum. You'll love the G35 Sedan as a replacement for your Z. Many of the aftermarket parts will apply in terms of engine mods, as will a few others. With winter tires, even the RWD is great in the snow, even here in the frozen north
. I guess it's good news that even the used Gs are holding their value.

The G is a great replacement for your 350 ... I have described this car as a 4-door 350Z to several people. The bad news in looking for a used car is that the sedans are holding their evalue extremely well. Instead of high 20s for a used G, you can get new car financing at 2.9% on a discounted new car for not much over 30-31K, depending on the options you need or want. Plus, the 05s have the upgraded HP, interior and exterior features as well
If you're looking for something new that has depreciated a little further, there is always the Maxima/Altima alternative ... so many on the market they have definitely taken a bigger hit than the Gs have.

Use Autotrader and don't be afraid to fly to a distant land and drive it home. I'm not sure where you live but it sounds like the used car market is the same there as it is here, not too hot for Infiniti's (or great if you are selling
)
On saturday I bought an 03.5 G with premium/wood/winter with 39k miles and full maintenance history from a BMW dealership 3 states away. It was $19,100 but needed new tires and $300 of maintenance on schedule. So make that about $20k.
The BMW dealership was ready to move it as it was a trade in and had been on the lot for 45 days. They were asking 22,900 for it and I started around $19,000.
The deals can be had if you are patient, call around, have it inspected and make sure they know you are searching far from home so they will have to intice you with a good deal to get you out there and to beat more competition than they are used to. My local Infiniti dealer wouldn't have gone below $24000 on it, I know. I tried.
Plus the 11 hour drive home was a lot of fun in my G!
Good luck to you. I love it.
