To G or not to G...

What's up! I'm new on the website and not actually a G35 owner... yet but I need some advice about the situation I'm in. I currently drive a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with about 105k miles on it. My friend just recently bought a 350z and the thought of owning a car fast and sleek like that is awesome so I'm considering trading my truck for a G35. This one to be exact: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...ngId=127672182
But there are some setbacks. My truck has held an incredible resale value and would be able to get trade plus cash. My truck has never given me an issue, never been in the shop, runs fine, so it's hard to get rid of a car that has given no trouble but I have the urge for something new. My parents worries and some of my own are that I will regret getting a G35, that it may give out on me. We know that the car won't hold its value as well as the truck and I'm scared that the G would be more to maintain. My truck is in my name, I'm a 18 and a freshman at the University of Georgia so I have all the power to do a trade, my parents have given the go ahead I just have to weigh the options and decide. Other concerns are that a manual will be difficult on a college campus but this car is meant to be manual. I'm just looking for a change to something smaller, better gas mileage, and maybe a little faster and more fun to drive. Thanks for the help

I'm a senior in Oklahoma and have had my G here for 3 years.
Nothing difficult about owning a 6mt on campus lol. Maybe some speed bumps that are a PITA? If you're able to afford payments and maintenance, you should be fine. You will no doubt enjoy the G more than your truck.

Thanks for the input. It's definitely a tough decision. But I would love to have a car. I'm going to keep researching and make sure I find the right one.

Don't expect to get much better gas milage. I recently came from a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo where I was happy to get 16-18. In my 05 G35 I'm raking in around 19-20, sometimes 22 if I baby her.

The problem I find is that while you could drive a G and be gentle enough to get ok efficiency, the car will beg to be driven with passion, resulting in a lower efficiency

Gas mileage is more support to convince the parents that a car is in my best interests. The biggest concern is maintenance, I want the car to last and not give out on me within a couple of years. I think if i find the "perfect" one and take care of it I won't regret my decision.

The G does hold its value better than cars in its class. They are fun to drive and own! If the car was maintained by the original owner and not driven hard your maintenance cost wont be high. Its looks very nice milage is good also.
