tire sensors

hi guys! hope all of you are well. had a quick question for you, planning to change my rims and was wondering is it mandatory for me to transfer the tire sensors to the new rims? what would happen if i dont? would it affect anything in my car? will the light go on if i dont? or does it just light up when i have a flat? thanks for the input.
planning to go with 18's on my sedan f-18x8.5 r-18x9.5 (235-45-18f) (245-45-18r) ADR M-Sport Hyperblack on a Ivory Pearl Sedan.

thanks
Ryan

I was also wondering this. I have 18s off my Maxima that I am planning on using and would hate to see a light on the dash all the time.

I don't have rims aftermarket rims on my car, but from previous experience with my Nissan Titan, you will have to transfer those sensors. They should be located near the valve stem, and shouldn't be too hard to do.

yeah, without the sensor I'm pretty sure it see's a flat and the light will come on constantly. There are posts on here about changing the sensor to aftermarket rims...it's pretty simple, hardest part is making sure the tire-changer guy/girl knows the sensor is in there or they are most likely going to break it getting old tires off the rim. I believe the just unscrew with the valve stem, and you simply just put that stem in the new rim. Do a search...it's all on here somewhere.

I have an 05 sedan. My sensors are in the summer tires in the basement. I am running my winters right now with no sensors an no mauor issues. The sensor light comes on the odd time . When you restart the car it resets to off. It seemed to come on more often at first, I would say it has only came on maybe 6-10 times in almost 3,000 miles.

I have 19" Axis and the sensors fit perfectly in b/w the rim and the tire, and my tire profile is 35. Like klwoods stated make sure the person installing your tires puts the sensors on.

^^ Do you have any pics of your car? I was looking at the list in your post. Car sounds nice. I debating(again) about doing clear corners.

Ok back to topic
