Question What's the point???????????????????

I used to run Amzoil Synthetic through a Spinner Centrifuge by-pass oil filtration system w/washable filters in my auto transport carriers.... and would NEVER change my oil as long as my TBN numbers remained above the norm (7+). This was often over 250,000 miles,,BUT..... the big difference was that each of my six $180,000.+ trucks used over 40 quarts of oil each change and conservation was a must . My G only needs 5 frigg'n qts.of Mobil1, a K&N filter, and about 20 minutes of deserved love/attention (and oil analysis) to be kept happy while I'm stomp'n on the devil put'n pedal to the metal ...lol.JBX

JustBrilliantX,

Who do you recommend for oil analysis?

Blackstone Laboratories....hit your search for "oil analysis". Get the pre-paid pkg. of six WITH the TBN numbers. This isn't so you can extend your changes like I did, but so that you can keep tabs on how quickly your additives are breaking down in case something changes from the norm. Do an analysis every other change...cool? JBX

Thanks, I'm thinking of it more for my Cummins, to check for any nasty internal wear.

There should be no problems what-so-ever mixing mineral and synthetic oils as they are entirely miscible. However, why not just go synthetic and be safe for a few extra dollars?

Most (ALL that I know of) syn. manufactures say "when in a pinch ya can mix...BUT change back to full ASAP!"

Actually on the Mobil 1 bottles, it states that it's safe to mix with conventional oils. The technology is catching up.
