In my 2006 Infiniti G35, 170k miles, sedan the service light came up last week with error codes P0174, P0171 that point to replacing mass airflow sensor. So I got that replaced and technician erased the codes. I drove for 10 miles and light came back again. It also continues to misfire when I start it which it did before replacing MAF.
Does anyone know if it takes some more driving after MAF is replaced before the service light goes away and the misfiring stops? any other experience or knowledge to address this issue you can share? It would be appreciated.

 

Those error codes and mean everything from MAF sensor to many other air flow sensors along with gas cap and beyond.

All those codes say is that bank1 and bank2 are running lean. There is an error in either the measurement, calculation, or delivery of air and fuel, the primary suspect is a vacuum leak. Check the air duct track for rips, pay close attention to the "accordion" section of the duct, inspect the PCV vacuum lines as well as the PCV valves (shake to make sure it rattles).

Somewhere during the inspection you will likely find the "smoking gun", a MAF sensor failure doesn't typically cause those errors but rather P0100/P0101

It's also possible that the fuel pump is delivering too little fuel pressure, this is difficult to troubleshoot because there is no factory schrader valve to test pressure. You need to install an aftermarket sandwich adaptor like this item from Z1 motorsports.
