Reviving 2006 G35 w 171,000 miles

Hello All! I have a 2006 G35 with 171k miles that I would like to get back out on the road. I have added fuel stabilizer and take it around the block once a week while in storage. The list of repairs needed includes:

Transmission Replacement(Error Code P1759 INFINITI - Front Brake Solenoid Valve Function)
Radiator Replacement
Oil Leak (Unidentified)

I would like to get 30-50k more out of it before I finally try to retire it. Do you think its worth it? Should I call it quits? Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

As long as your transmission fluid drains out and looks ok you probably just need a new valve body not the entire transmission. However, it's the most expensive component in the transmission BY FAR.

My suggestion is to do a compression check to see how much life is left in the motor and if you are doing the work YOURSELF then just fix the issues, radiator is simple and cheap, oil leak is probably the valve covers which can be band-aided for 50k miles by just taking them off and using the same permatex ultra grey that you will be making the outside gasket with but also apply it to the worn spark plug well gaskets since they're likely going to leak soon. Or just ebay and mod a cheap chinesium set of valve covers to work.

If you are paying a mechanic to do the work you're probably better off calling it quits.

I just rolled over 250k on my 06 6MT. Just requires a little bit of maintenance.

I haven't looked up that code yet, but as mentioned above, it sounds like the valve body, and transgo upgrades seen relatively inexpensive. Could just be old, or previous owners had that mindset of never replacing auto trans fluids, even though you should.

Only actual oil leak my engine has had was from the cam sensors at the back of the head, so basically just an o-ring.

A few hundred dollars of maintenance on a car you already own is much better than a new car payment. So far, you don't really have any major maintenance, just old car problems, lol.

That code is EXACTLY what happens from not ever changing the fluid, the solenoid controlling the front brake sleeve has failed so it wouldn't surprise me to find really dark fluid. I wouldn't even bother trying to replace just the individual solenoid because every solenoid is probably near the same condition.

After a quick internet search you can source a new (probably rebuilt) complete valve body with TCM for about $400, I don't believe this vehicle requires any dealership programming of the TCM.

If you do tackle this repair yourself and the fluid comes out very dark I would perform 3-4 fluid exchanges (drain and fill) BEFORE installing the new valve body to clean debris out of the fluid. Or just remove the entire transmission so you can dump out ALL the fluid.

Hi, you helped me with my previous post. 2006 G35x...I Ordered a new valve body online, how do I know if the TCM needs to be programmed?
