VQ35DE engine difference FX35 to G35
I'm picking up a FX35 drivetrain to rebuild and start my turbo project. I'm very green on the VQ platform so any help would be great. Is there any difference in the 06' AWD FX35 and the 05' G35X drivetrain? I'm guessing the cams could be different but haven't got into them yet to measure.

Guess I have answered my own question. Looked up part numbers between the two through Infiniti parts and the cams, heads, upper oil pan, and oil pump all have the same part numbers. I'll probably measure or look for color rings (don't know if VQ's have this but SR20's do) on the cams to verify. So I guess I have a green light to start the build!
Edit: the only thing I can't use is the front carrier (diff) it has the 3.69 ratio

Not all VQ35DE's are the same, technically the only REAL difference is between RWD and FWD platforms, there are different motor mount locations and the starter location is different. You will be able to use a LOT of peripherials but things like the intake manifold are different with a larger deck height so you will need to keep a bunch of stuff from the G motor.
If you want a direct bolt-on experience stick with the motor from a G35/350Z/M35.

Yeah, I was researching quite a bit of that IE: FWD, RWD, AWD parts interchange. But I found the FX35 AWD 06' to 08' looks to be identical to the G35x 04'-06' engine. So far the part numbers look to be the same. I really didn't expect the cams to be the same for a heavy SUV. When I get into the engine & trans I'll probably write something up about compatibility.

That's what I'm finding out so far. The only part of the drivetrain I'll have to remove and swap will be the front carrier (diff) since they are the lower gear ratio. I'm sure some of the mounts, brackets, coolant hose and stuff like that may be different but all I wanted to know is if the nitty gritty stuff is exact cross. So far every part # I have looked up has been identical. So as long as you pull a 2wd FX35 for a 2wd G35 or a AWD FX35 for a AWD G35 it should be good. I'm pulling the motor in a couple days so I can get started.

3 hours of work to get the drive train out. $400 for a 143k mile Upull setup was an awesome deal. I'll sell the front carrier (diff) and the rest will get rebuilt to throw into the 05' G35. Does anyone know if the 06' rear FX35 brake calipers move to the G35? I have big front brakes already but might grab those fx35 rears if they can move over.
