2004 G35- pricing?

I am looking at a new '04 G35 sedan, a new leftover, 6sp stick, carib blue with prem and nav. any idea how low the dealer might go? so far they quoted $450/mo, 15k miles, no cap cost for 39 mos with a residual of 19262, so total in about 36.8k. or 600/mo at 2.9% for 60 mos for about a 36k purchase. Both seem high to me. I can buy a 2004 used G35, with 24k miles, sunroof and leather for 22k, maybe even 21k.

I just got a 2005 G35X with premium, splash guards, trunk mat but no nav, for $34750. It's an auto too. You should be able to get the car for ALOT less than 36.8K IMO. There was a dealer around here that was offering "new" 2004 G35s for $750 under invoice.

If you can get a used G for $21 or 22 then go for it. I just spent two months looking in that price range nationwide and the only rides near that range in an 04 with 24k miles are rental cars and come with base options and maybe winter.

Question

What was the list vs. selling price (capitilized cost). The dealer should be giving you a bonus chop to get you to take the Caribbean Blue... LOL just kidding...well kinda kidding anyway . JBX

I think for that price, you are going to get a high mileage, average (or worse) condition, or maybe a dealer loaner, I wouldn't touch one of those with a stick, from my experience, they don't take good care of the loaners. I did see one for $22k, but it was a base model '03, cloth, 16" wheels.

Thanks for the info. the 2004 used G35 (24k miles, $22k) is a rental/fleet car (did a autocheck on it). has leather, winter package, sunroof, 17" wheels, xenon etc. I actually noted a lot of used rental/fleet G35's for sale locally (CT) in a yahoo search. I'm a little leary of rental/fleet cars but it still would have a fair amount of warranty left and I would do a ppi also. anymore thoughts?

There's a GOOD chance that those "fleet cars" were the dealer's "loaner cars". They are usually very well maintained (they have to be) they're the dealers rolling advertisements! Just ask the dealer about the history check you did and what's the "dilleo?". He legally has to tell you if it was a rental. JBX

Well, I'm careful with the loaners I get, but there are threads here that indicate that not everyone is. One guy brought his to the track to run some times (after taking out the back seat and doing a few other things)! The dealer might be trying to keep it nice, but they don't control what the drivers do. If it's a regular old rental car, I'd be very wary.

The price of the new one does seem quite high since the 05's have been out for a while.
