I need to replace the left bolster soon. Mine has been tearing horribly today.

I went to an upholstery shop and it was like $200 to fix with new leather and foam on the bolster

Been looking at wrecking yard listings for a better driver's seat than I have and they all look much worse. Have to check out the local upholstery shop instead I guess.

Drive or call around to some of the best body shops and classic restoration shops in town and ask who they recommend for upholstery, don't give them too many details about your vehicle just tell them you're looking to get some leather seats reupholstered. By the time you've talked to 4-5 different shops you should have a pretty good idea who in town you want to deal with because the best shops usually refer to the best upholstery guys. It's not nearly as expensive as you're thinking even for top quality work. $1000 is usually what you pay for full foam and full new leather on 2 seats in my town, if it's just a couple panels that need replaced and a couple sections of foam it's quite a bit cheaper.

Definitely pull the seats yourself though unless you physically aren't able to pull and deliver them. It's typically an extra $100 per seat if you just drop your car off.

I got tired of have that hole in my drivers chair, asked several dealerships who they used and got a recommendation. For a few $$ they replaced all the leather and foam on the left side, so I'm back to the way it looked and felt when I drove SLICK off the showroom floor way back in 2004! I had asked Katskin several times in the past 10 years if they'd make leather replacements for our G35, they

I used a black leather peel and stick patch from Amazon to get me by with a large split on my passenger side bottom. Very nice quality and made in the UK. I notice it but my passengers never notice until I point it out. This would probably not work for most cases of bolster damage as it might have difficulty working around an edge and holding in a high wear area.

Will upload pics once I figure out how to get attachments to display.

For finding a shop to reupholster auto seats, I’ve found that boat and RV upholstery shops are much more common in my area and are cheaper than auto shops even though good ones can all do the same work. Just a way to expand your searching. Ask them first what they can source and supply for foam and seat cover kits before buying parts on your own. This is from experience repairing worn leather seats and cushions in another vehicle.
