Infiniti G35X
Post I need help.

So i have an 04 infiniti g35x. I had got a flat tire but I don't have a spare. I was gonna use the spare in my 05 acura rl. The lug patterns are the same but the tire size is different. Both are 17's. g35x is 215/55 R17 and the RL is 245/50 R17. Would this work as a temporary fix just until i get to the tire spot. my acura rl doesnt run, if not i would of just drove the car over to change the tire. Any help or suggestions?

Google for a tire size comparison calculator. Input tire sizes. Because you have AWD sedanX, you want the tire diameter to ideally be within 1% of each other. Up to 3% for the _short_ drive to tire store. Otherwise you mess up VDC and create mayhem with the AWD wheel sensors; potential damage to AWD mechanicals. Also, pay attention to differences in tire wear. If extreme difference, that can affect accuracy of calculator results.

what i have here is +1.1% in diameter, +12.9% in width, +2.1 sidewall, +1.1% circum. And -10 revs/mile.

Diameter/circumference are all that matter. You should be good to swap out and drive to tire shop. I would not "sorta get over there eventually" and do a lot of other driving. Prioritize and get the tire taken care of first.

Using the tire calculator in the Wheels/Tires section you'll have a 1.26% difference which should be just fine. 3% is the magic number not to exceed or the VDC goes nuts.

Ignore the width and offset categories, they have no impact on the rolling diameter which you are concerned about. https://g35driver.com/forums/tire_rim_calculator.php

Just open the calculator and enter the sizes you want to run. It'll tell you if the difference is more or less than the 3% target.

Remember this is an AWD sedanX. You still will have imbalance between front and rear axles if you put sizes on the rear different from the front. My understanding is that the 3% difference relates to the VDC system. Not certain but my recollection from my days as a sedanX owner was that the ATTESA system tolerances are more strict on the order of 1%. But there's been a lot of debate on what the number really is.

I have a RWD coupe, but a couple years ago I had to put a 17 in the rear temporarily and 19 in's all around. It didn't cause too many issues, but I only did it for about a week at most two.

I lost my key to my 2003 g35 I had spare made but I didn't know about the chip. Now I think I activated the system because I used spare without chip. What do I do I have no more chipped keys

You'll have better luck asking here - https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/345479-random-little-question-thread.html

You don't have AWD, it doesn't matter, nobody cares.

Always have the better tires in the back - especially if it is wet out.
