RockAuto Hubs
RockAuto Hubs
I'm wondering if anyone has ordered the rear Durago hubs off of rockauto? I'm going to be doing my rear hubs/bearings in a couple weeks. I ordered the Durago's off their site, although I'm wondering if the very cheap price is too good to be true.
Yes, I used those when I did my rear wheel bearings. They are pretty solid and I haven't had any issues with *those* in the 6 months I've used them. I'd also change your rear brake hardware as well if you haven't done those yet either. I'd rent a slide hammer and buy a 12 ton press from Harbor Freight for 100 bucks. Makes the job go a lot faster.
I've always wondered this too. So the trade-off is they won't last as long, especially if you put high cornering loads on them? Seems to me that something like a wheel bearing should be done with the best parts so you don't have to do it again for a long time.
I would never cheap out on a bearing, seeing as it is taking the majority of the load. The way I looked at it, so long as the inner ridges of the hub cut out for the axle are 'perfectly' grooved, the hub should be fine. Unless it was made using a cheap blend of steel, I can't see it being an issue.
I guess we'll find out down the road
now if only Canada Post would come off of strike I might actually receive the hubs and bearings before I go back to work.
