The Lincoln is an excellent choice. A true street sleeper. I love Foci for some reason. Owned one of some kind since 2004. This will be my second SVT build. I restored Mustangs for 25 years.

MySnap on tool was delayed so I made one up. Did a drain and fill while I had the car up. Took about 4 1/2 quarts.

Way to make it work lmao. Nice work! Now to have strong mounts and put the power down.

Leadfoot, once you had the tool made, how long did this job take you? I'm getting some distinct vibrations in my vehicle from 2500-3000 RPM, especially under acceleration. I'm going to do some more digging into the issue first but I just wanna know how difficult this job was for you.

Well....the aftermarket mount lasted 2 months. For some reason I didn't have an issue installing the aftermarket mount but I did with the oem. You have to remove the exhaust heat shields. On the drivers side there was enough room to get the old mount out and new one in without lowering the k frame. Once that mount broke and I recieved an Infinitt mount I realized the aftermarket mount was slightly shorter. I had to lower the k member to install the OEM mount. Again, not that difficult, just time consuming with hand tools. Passenger side is more difficult and requires removing the oil filter so timing the mount replacement with a scheduled oil change makes the most sense. Good luck!

Hmm, that's interesting. What aftermarket mount did you go with?

Also, what were you experiencing that led you to change your mounts, both the first and second time they failed?

When the oem mount failed at 82k, the idle being rough was the first indication. Then a thump when putting car into reverse. I used Anchor brand mounts the first time. At first, they were great. Idle was glass smooth and transmission shifted much smoother. Never realized how tight everything needs to be for the transmission to shift smoothly. I had already epoxied the rear differential mount which got rid of the rear thump. I was able to source oem Infiniti mounts of off ebay. The idle vibration eventually came back. Although the Amchor mounts didn't separate completely I could see where the rubber was stretching. They are not the same density of rubber as the oem so I cannot recommend them other than an emergency fix.

Hmm, that does not sound like my issue. Thanks for the details.

You might consider pulling the interior and putting down sound deadening mat on the floor of the G35, if I ever have reason to pull up the carpet in mine I will definitely be doing that. It's a little spendy but it can cut down the noise inside the cabin by 75% in some vehicles.
I found a rubberized sound deadening spray-able coating at Pep Boys. Actually works pretty well. Coated my rear fenderwells and the area above the muffler and there was a noticeable drop in sound at cruising speeds. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S are a pretty quiet tire, that helps as well. Even with Art Pipes, y-pipe, exhaust, I can have normal conversations at pretty much any speed, can even talk on my phone with it on speaker and hear people with no problem. My car certainly isn't whisper quiet but its not obnoxiously loud either.

As far as engine mounts go, I wouldn't go all urethane if you don't like vibration. Maybe just the rear mount. On my Accord, all the mounts are rubber except the passenger side mount since that's the one that goes first on those cars (the V6 Accord, TL and Odyssey are notorious for tearing up motor mounts) and other than when the a/c is on and I'm sitting at a light with my hands on the steering wheel, I don't notice the vibration. But if I'd replaced all with urethane it would be more noticeable.

I was able to get away with solid mounts on my Chevelle but the engine was also balanced.

It's also a fairly loud chassis compared to a modern coated/dampened unibody. Just pulling numbers out of my butt but a modern chassis with a NVH of 3, if changing the mounts raises your NVH to 5 that's a 60% increase in NVH.

An older chassis-on-frame with an NVH of 8 if you add urethane mounts and increase your NVH to 10 that's only a 25% increase.
