Base mode G35 - Didn't know they came stripped down this much
I was looking for a donor G35 car to move my 2004 G35x parts over to. I ran across a base model with cloth interior, manual seats, and was also missing the steering wheel controls for the radio. I didn't know they made a stripped down G35 like this. I have looked at A LOT of G's for the last year and never seen one. Just thought it was interesting...

Wow, that’s basic. Probably only the second one I’ve seen with cloth seats. I think the 2003 base came even more stripped.
Been searching for a 2004 sales brochure to see what a base car came with. I know I remember seeing one online, can’t seem to find it.
My 2004 is just a leather car, no sunroof but it has power seats and steering wheel audio controls as part of the leather package.

Maybe not much weight advantage (50lbs?), I would hope my car comes it at 3400 lbs or so. I might drive it over a truck scale sometime soon.

Does your car have leather? I think the cloth seats as a base option disappeared for the sedan after 2004.
I think leather was standard by 2005, so you might have the base version for that year. They kept adding more equipment as standard each year of the first generation.

Not long ago I ran across some of the documentation from when I ordered my coupe. Here's a copy of what I believe was a page from the order guide that the sales consultant had given me. I know we're discussing the sedan, but you can see in '03 the base coupe without leather was a separate model. The sunroof was available as an individual option or part of the premium package.
That's pretty neat, I didn't realize the sunroof could be ordered as stand alone on the coupe (and maybe the sedan). Infiniti was mostly into packaging these options , not too many stand alone, a la carte options.
Here's another informative thread. https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...ackages-2.html
Next time I see a good deal on old sales brochures on ebay, I may buy them and scan for reference.

A little bit of a thread revival, but I own a 2004 G35 sedan base with the cloth/manual seats interior & no sunroof. Its literally an RWD Altima. Believe it or not, I actually like the cloth seats more than the leather, I enjoy the minimalist interior. I picked it up for steal with 159k miles on it. Body is in decent shape, some door dings and faded paint, but interior is very clean. Original owner was meticulous, a mechanical engineer by trade. It needed a wheel bearing and rear sway bar end links, and all the fluids changed. And window tint, because SoCal.
I actually had an 05 sedan that I sold with over 250k miles on it, it had all options (including the sport package, 18's/vLSD, + Nav). Owner was a family friend. I think I opened the sunroof on that car once in the year or so that I had it. That car had a myriad of issues, it needed struts, gas gauge didn't work, motor ticked like hell, 5th gear slipped when cold, and the most aggravating was manual mode worked when it wanted to, which was rare as hell. Not to mention most all the control arm bushings were pretty much shot.
Overall, the only things I really miss with my 04 are the Bose stereo (steering wheel controls are wonderful), sub-woofer, and the vLSD. The latter I plan on sourcing from ebay and swapping in in the near future. Is the 04 cloth interior not as nice as the leather? Yes, but its not bad. Its still a very comfortable car as far I am concerned.
