Let it snow!!

Its March in NYC and its snowing again and its great. I just traded in my 02' wrx and some of you asked me to make a comparison with the g35x. I gotta say its as potent and smooth on the snow. It performs as great even better than my wrx. Im so glad I also got the X instead of the 6spd manual. THis is my first automatic car. The X even drives better in snow than my dads trailblazer IMO. I was drving home behind a rear wheel drive q45. It made a turn up this hill, I was behind him and his rear end ended up on the curb. Lcukily no one was parked there. I obviously had no problem going up. This day reassured me on my decision of trading in the rex.

I have to agree. I bought my X home in the snow. It had 62 miles on it and I was driving home in a snowstorm and I wasn't worried at all. The X is very sure footed in the slop.

And sure footed in today's ice, which is what is on most of our roads-at least the ones the ice-melter truck missed.

I made a big mistake today. I cleaned my G's interior yesterday and no way did I want to dirty my G in the snow storm today so I took the Accord out. Boy...what was I thinking. Yes my car and I made it home in one piece but the roads were sooooo slick today my accord was going left/right/diagonal...anything except straight. That plus I had to start mostly from 2nd gear. Should of drove my G today. Damn......did I missed my G when the accord was going sideway...

I find that the 05x is competent in the snow but nothing to write home about. The reason is the tires. They are marginal in the snow at best. The tires on the 04 were better for snow. The 05 (if you check tirerack) are touring tires and not hig performance. The are in the red zone for snow traction in their rating system which means you really should not use those tires in snow.

Once you upgrade to a better tire, you will notice a difference...

What tires are on your X? I have the Goodyear RS-A and they seem fine in snow. I know they are not as good as a dedicated snow tire, but they will do just fine until they wear out and I replace them with Blizzacks. I have summer tires, so that should be a few years from now.

I used to have blizzaks on my wrx, and they are great tires. I changed from summer tires to winter tires every season. Ill wait to wear these turanzas out and depending of time of season Ill get snows. THe goodyear eagle rsa's are more for dry pavement, they go up against the pilot sports imo.

I have Blizzak's on my X and they work great! No problems at all dealing with all the hills up here in Vermont.
