Confused gears???
Hi everyone I'm new here but mainly posting to help out my brother. Thanks in advance for any help with this one.
So my brother has a 2004 g35 sedan rwd.
Recently he replaced his battery because the car would die if you left any light on for a while.
So while tightening up the positive poll on the new battery he touched the negative poll with whatever tool he was using. Nothing happened immediately, but fast forward a week later he goes to turn the car on and puts the car in D and it won't move. So he puts it in R and it moves in reverse then he tries N and it moves in reverse as well. DS also doesn't work but it does show 1 on the dashboard.
Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks again

Disconnect the battery and clean it up, also clean the transmission ground on the top of the timing chain cover, same with the engine to chassis ground from the timing chain cover to directly below the coolant reservoir.
There might also he a partially cooked fuse in the positive side fusible link holder, I would replace that entire thing since it's like $20.

In a rush to type this last night I forgot to mention the most important part. The code reader puts out a code of p1815

Thanks man looks like we need to take it in to get scanned with the consult-II to figure out the specific problem.
I was suggesting we change out the shifter assembly but not 100 percent sure that's the problem.
