CEL with full tank, off when low - PASSED EMISSIONS

Help! I have the dreaded CEL light that seems to be related to my gasoline capacity, when i fill up the light comes on, when it gets low the light goes off. I've been combing this forum, google, youtube and I see that this is a common issue but I feel like I did something i havent seen others do...since my emissions testing was due this month, I decided to wait until the light went off and my gasoline was low and went to the AZ Emissions testing near me. i feared i would fail, as initially when i went last week they said the CEL light would be an automatic failure. Anyways, I passed with flying colors, paid 2 years so i don't have to worry about this next year and left scratching my head. Since they test the fuel vapors, the obd2 etc if something truly was wrong i think the emissions testing would've shown something. Can anyone pinpoint what me passing indicates? Of course once i left emissions and filled up at the gas station, shortly after that my CEL light came on lol.

my car: 2006 G35 sedan, around 140k.

Things i might be trying this weekend and down the road:

1. replacing my fuel cap
2. replacing the O-ring that seals the fuel pump to the tank, possibly on both sides under the rear seat
3. like some youtube vids show, taking out the fuel pump out and carefully cleaning the sensor which may be dirty
4. and lastly i've seen others say its a dashboard cluster issue, so sending that off if something is off electronically/needs to be soldered

Any other suggestions? Does me passing mean nothing is wrong mechanically, and its just an electronic/wiring issue? help! Thank you in advance!

Possibly corrosion on the contact spring of the level float, I would remove/inspect/brush it clean with a scotchbrite pad before replacing the entire pump assy. You should be able to find a youtube video, just search up something like "gas gauge off cleaning fuel pump level switch". It's basically the same on all vehicles.
