Radiator hose

so one of my radiator hoses decided to bust all over the inside of my hood and leave me stranded. I'm having it towed to my house now and will be able to see what happened a bit more. I've never changed hoses out before but seems pretty straight forward. Yall got any tips before I get started? On the bright side I have a project for the weekend lol.

Why did it burst? The car wasnt overheating before it happened?

But yeah replacing is pretty straight forward. Probably just a clamp on both ends.

Nope. No overheating prior. Just heard like 30 sec long squealing fots which was probably the coolant spraying onto my belts. 2 min later I got a ses light and the overheating started

Pressure test the system once you have a new hose installed to verify there aren't any other leaks. While the system is drained down you should probably replace the coolant bleed valve in the heater core hose since they are prone to failing.

Read up on how to properly burp the coolant system, if you just dump in a bunch of coolant like it was an old Chevy then you are guaranteed to have issues.

Now I'm no radiator guru, but I feel like there should be some kind of washer where that tape is 🤔

Tape is lighter. Less weight. Car goes faster.

If I were to guess, they stripped the threads in that boss on the radiator for the screw to thread into. Tape probably fixed the problem.
BTW it looks like your rad cap isn't on all the way.
