Dash backlight and radio cuts out over bumps
Dash backlight and radio cuts out over bumps
So I'm new to this forum. And this sweet car! 2003 g35. I just got it yesterday and have a issue. if I hit a bump. All dash backlights go out. Stuff like cruise control light still works. And the radio is just. Off. No sound no nothing. Itll "turn back on" of you hit another bump. Any ideas?
You need to do a careful inspection.. Have a multi-meter handy so you can start tracing when it happens.
Download the FSM for your vehicle and start at the fuse that controls the dash lights.
It is simple electric tracing battery and ground
Good luck

Bad or loose ground connection, poor connectivity in a wiring harness connector, corrosion in a wiring harness, did anything get wet at one time?

Here's a link to Nicoclub who hosts the FSM's for free.

Follow the FSM and check every connector in the wiring harness.
Check every pin for voltage where it should be.
Check every pin for ground where it should be.
Any corrosion anywhere?
You may very well stumble upon the source?

If it is a stock Bose unit, they were recalled because of a circuit board issue. I have 3 2003-2004 G35 and they all have upgraded HU’s now. Hopefully just the loose wire causing it, not that it’s a fun gremlin to chase.

Yes it's probably a loose wire, follow Telcoman's advice.
