Should Threads Be Able To Be Moved?
Should threads be able to be moved? Let's vote on it. (kinda like ChicagoX's and the Evo vs. G35 thread that was taken away for a while)

Yes, they should be able to moved and removed. There was a thread a few weeks ago that I thought was racist and I was glad that it was removed. It was insulting and degrading and inappropriate for a car site. It did not contribute to our feelings of humanity and served no purpose other than to insult others. There is no assigned responsibility or direct accountability of the members who post, but the site does have a responsibility to members and others to be ethical, fair and humane.

Censorship at its very best.
Censorship at its very best.
But one of the problems with posts is that, unlike face-to-face discourse, there are few or no clues that what a person is saying might be fictional, sarcastic, humorous, just put up to start a discussion, etc.
The related problem is that there are many young people reading and contributing to the board and they may get the idea that if so-and-so did something, maybe it is OK for me to do it. Some of the posts here have been very frightening, in terms of what some of the younger people (and occasionally the older ones) deem to be acceptable behavior, particularly when they involve alcohol and/or road racing. I am appalled by the threads where a driver justifies their drinking and driving, and escaping punishment, for instance.
If you had presented your now fictional story in a way to get comments that made it clear that it was fiction, I think you would have a better argument about censorship. I do believe that the site has the right to censor what it wishes, since it is their site, visible to the world and for which they have some responsibility. If you were an owner of the site or a salaried employee and were "censored", you would be in a better position to claim censorship. By the way, I am not a lawyer.
The threads are often interesting and provocative, but they should not incite people to do bad things.
Yet how many underage drinking threads have continued to exist? How many of the racing stories are actually ON THE TRACK?
I wasn't even given the chance to reply to my own thread stating the fictional nature of the story.
All I'm asking for is a little even-handedness and a few less knee-jerk reactions.
If my post was in the wrong section, move it. I feel deletion was a wee bit harsh, considering the $hite floating around the boards presently.
