My 05 emergency parking brake switch is faulty. The brake dash light will flicker whe the pedal is released.
It does not look like it's replaceable. You have to replace the complete assembly. Anyone have experience with this? Can the switch be replaced? Or a link to an affordable complete assembly? Prices are about $300.
Could this issue affect the inability to get the automatic shifter to get out of park?
I tightened up the brake cable and it's improved.
Removed the PB assembly and found the switch is held in by a screw along with an alignment pin. The pin was busted and the screw was loose. The screw holds the switch in place and makes the connection to the harness connection. The loose connection was responsible for the erratic dash brake light and the locking of the shifter.
Epoxy on the switch and retightened the connection. Figured I post this for anyone else who may run across this problem.
