G35 sedan starting problem
The other nite came from work to go home and had to jump start .got home arked next day had to jump start today went to start it started up drove it and when I got to store shut off and came out it wouldn't start but it cranked over kinda then when I tried to jump it did nothing just clicked lightly and no crank got new battery installed and it still won't start clicks when you try starting but it's has power all the lights and alarm and everything has power plz help what couldn't be bad ground alternator or starter relay
The first thing to do is ensure the battery is good - just because it reads 12V and the lights come on, doesn't mean it has adequate cranking Amps to rotate the starter.
If the battery is verified to be good, then you need to clean all the contacts in the circuit because any loose or dirty connections in the current path will result in poor conductivity. It's a simple path from the positive battery terminal to the solonoid. When the solonoid is closed, the current flows to the starter motor, through the motor windings to the engine/bellhousing. The engine has a ground strap to complete the path to the vehicle chassis, which is connected to the battery negative terminal.
It's a loop - the solonoid completes the loop when the key is moved to the Starter position, then disengages and opens the loop.
If there are any loose or dirty connections, or a bad battery, you'll have a low Amperage situation and the usual result is the clicking of the solonoid trying to close/open.
In the old days, the solonoid was on the shock tower and you could place a screwdriver across the terminals to rotate the starter. Modern cars place the solonoid on the starter motor which is usually inaccessible. Some modern cars actually use 2 solonoids for a positive disconnect between the battery and starter. (A stuck solonoid will cause the starter to constantly spin and will damage the starter and potentially create a fire with overheated cables. I actually had that happen on a Mustang and the battery exploded due to overheating and acid gas/spark.
If the engine to body ground strap is bad, the current will seek an alternate path back to the frame and that can cause damage to sensitive circuits/computer. Someone used to sell a ground strap kit that added about 3 different connections from the engine to the frame (I had that on my 05 G35 coupe). Good luck solving your electrical leak.

Just because it's a "new battery" doesn't really mean much.
Put it on a charger and see if it will take a charge, if so and you can fully charge it and start the car then the system is discharging and not filling back up for whatever reason.
Battery cables each have TWO ENDS. Make sure they are ALL clean and tight, also check the alternator primary. Disconnect the battery before servicing any of those connection points.
