Painting the brakes

Anyone thought about or did spray painted their brakes to make them look like brembos? What color do you think would look good other than gold?

Re: Painting the brakes

If you do it use an engine enamel-it won't get burned off. The gold on the brembos is a weird shade but hey, you go'em I don't. I will paint mine later-the weather has been good enough.

I've seen kits for painting brakes. Don't remember where.

Re: Painting the brakes

Use a plastic shopping bag to cover the disc and related suspension. It makes it really easy. Then tape off what is left exposed and start spraying. You want to use a lot of light coats. The frist one may not even really show much coverage but you will get great results that way. Slow and steady...hum...that sounds bad;P Try it it works if not and we meet at the Statewide meet I will show you in person.

Re: Painting the brakes

laquer is what i have used in the past. i have a couple hundred thousand miles all told on laquer painted brake calipers. Do a search for "folia-tec", it is a canadian company, runs about 40.00 but will not chip or burn away. Note, take the calipers off when you paint it, cause no matter how careful you are you will paint something together that will bea pain to remove later such as shims, clips

http://foliatec.de/1_english.shtml search for "brake", then choose caliper laquer

Done 26 cars so far and NEVER removed the calipers. I am good with a can and tape & Bag.

Re: Painting the brakes

We'll have to set it up. It is easy but remember that you are not going to get ever inch of the caliper. You can, but that takes a long time and you have to keep yourself under the car alot longer than I perfer which leaves little room to hold the car at the proper distance. This leads to runs-no not The Runs
