My Z went lower 13s with minimal bolt-ons and my G is over 1 second slower, but that doesn't bother me. It's incredible fun to roll up to the starting line in a sedan and blow the doors off some cocky and **** poor driving Mustang/F-Body/SRT-4/etc owner. I drag race because I find it a great time. I like to race my cars and I like to watch others race their cars. Running lower 14s in a sedan raises a lot more eyebrows than some Fox body Stang ripping a low 12.

So your 2000 SS Camaro has the LS6 from the 03+ Corvette Z06? Sorry, I find this all terribly hard to believe. I've been around F-Body's long enough to know what it takes to go deep 11s and that I've never heard of an LS6 transplant in an F-Body.
Dave,

The F-Body LS6 swap is common these days. Check out LS1.com, there is more than a few guys that have done the swap. Stock they are running in the 12's. Other than the oil pan, brackets and a computer change the LS6 is a direct bolt in replacement for the LS1.

I failed to mention that my LS6 is not stock (is now a 422ci) and nether is the car. My company builds sprint car engines, so we know a few things about aluminum small block bow tie engines. The last time we dynoed the SS it was putting out just under 500hp to the rear wheels.

Momma Mia, I stand corrected. Sounds like a fun combo.

It gets a little annoying reading posts from some 6MT owners thinking that having a manual somehow makes them a professional driver because they choose to row their own and that people with autos are lazy and incompetent. I've driven both the 6MT and auto and I've owned a handful of manual tranny cars. To me, the G doesn't feel any less sporty with the auto simply because the auto has the correct amount of gears, a MM, and shifts pretty quick. There were three 03 6MTs available when I bought my G and I choose the auto because I felt it drove a hell of a lot better. The 6MT exhibited excessive shifter buzz, a resistant gear box, and two had faint throw out bearing rattles. My Maxima was the same way and after 6 years I was tired of it. Some people say they like the "buzz" because it allows them to feel what the car was doing. I find the buzz annoying and doesn't fit the character of the car at all. If it was a Vette/F-Body/Stang, I could let it slide, but not in a sport-luxury car. BMWs don't suffer from this, why should Infiniti's?

I'll leave it at that.
Well put.

I'll say it again - both are great cars. Depends on what fits.
