reattaching splash guards

My front splash guards have pebbles stuck between the part that adheres to the lower trim which created separation between the guard and the body. The part of the guard by the wheel well is screwed on, but the "back side" is stuck on by some kind of adhesive or glue.

Is it advisable to remove the splash guards to get rid of the pebbles then reattach it? Or, do I risk damaging the paint underneath?

TIA!

the adhesive tape is 3m tape and binds pretty good. try unscrewing the screw(s) to loosen up the part. then try to remove the pebbles. if you have to take off the splash guards, you may need to heat up the adhesive first with a blowdryer. when you re-install the guards, you will need to purchase more 3m tape.

Great! I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
