About clear corners?

I just bought my 03 G35 sedan/ premium/ sport pkg (only 20k miles) on Saturday and I love it. It is beyond my wildest dreams. I have noticed a lot of posts referencing "clear corners." I know that they are side turn signal lights, but what is the deal with them? What makes them special? I would like to put some simple mods on it with out looking like a rice rocket. Any suggestions?

Congrats on your new (used) G and welcome to the forum. If you try using the search function you can usually find information about things like clear corners without asking. That's a topic that has been discussed in length over the years. Just some advice for future reference.

Now, since I am in a rather good mood tonight (vacation will do that)...

Clear corners are the sidemarker lights on your G. They do not blink. They come stock with an amber lense and a clear bulb. Some people prefer to change the amber lense to a clear lense for asthetics. You can then place different colored bulbs in the clear corner for different looks. I have an amber bulb in my clear corners so they appear legal when lit. Some people have placed clear or blue bulbs in their clear corners. Disclaimer: Just remember that in some states clear corners are illegal and you could possibly get a fix-it ticket or a fine.

As far as "non-ricey" mods...that's a whole can of worms. You will find so many different opinions on what is "rice" and what is not. In the end it's up to you what you want to do to your G, but if you ask for opinions (and even when you don't) you'll get plenty of input.

PS - I attached a pic of my 03 sedan with the clear corner circled.

I thought the issue of legality applied only if you don't have an orange/amber light.

Nope, side markers MUST reflect amber (in CA anyway). Check your local laws.

I really like the clears. They blend in with the car much better than Amber lenses.

Just curious, what about those factory clear side markers from VW Jetta and Bugs? Are those legal?

Dont change the light bulb, and dont try to make it blink. THen most likely you wont get a ticket.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it.

I actually did a search, but I couldn't find the reason for them. Just that they were installed or how to install. Thanks for explaining that they are only an aesthetic addition.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I looked at some pics of '04 Jettas and Bugs and they both have amber sidemarkers.
