Is the OEM oil filter decent?

I don't remember seeing any specific reviews of the OEM Nissan oil filters... would an aftermarket be that much better? Of course, some aftermarket filters actually have very poor performance.

Also, would the OEM Nissan filters for the G35 fit my 2001 Pathfinder (3.5L engine)?

Actually.. the Nissan OEM filters are VERY good.. I've been using them since I had my 2000 Sentra SE. Great flow and decently priced.

It depends if your 4wd or not but you can use the same filter from your G...its just a little smaller. The filter your supposed to use is the "9E" that is pretty much the same filter, its just larger than the "65" that the G takes. The "65" is used when space is an issue, like on the newer altimas/maximas, the last generation G20's, the I35's.

Some of the QX4s and pathfinders have the filter located above the steering rack on the drivers side and when you remove its gonna spill all over the darn place, this one will use the "65". The others have it in front of the steering rack dead center between the frame rails and it has a little traugh for the oil so it dosent spill all over the place, this one is the "9E". Im not sure on the pathfinders because I havent worked for nissan for a while, but im pretty sure yours would use the "9E" filter.

You really have no need to use the same filter, just buy the two you need, they are like $7 if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info.

Basically, I already have some G35 filters, but if they weren't so good, I was going to just use them on my 4 year old Pathfinder (2WD) and get better filters for the G. But it sounds like it's a non-issue, since the OEM Nissan filters are pretty good.
