Best dealership/price in the bay area?

How's it going folks? I've been a long time lurker here and am pleased to say that there might be a G35 joining my family . Well, its not so much for me, but for my father as I am going away to college this fall and taking my trusty 2nd gen integra with me. Anyways, yes he will be the one purchasing it and we were at the Frontier Infiniti dealer this past Friday looking at all the G35s.

I believe my father has his eyes set on a Diamond Graphite sedan with Premium Package B and the sport tuned suspension. Not bad for a 60 something year old eh .

Anyways, the main question I'm here is to ask: Whats the best price we can possibly get this car for?

How much did you all pay for a similarly equipped car? I prefer bay area folks respond, but any response would be great.

Thanks.

Bay Area

San Franciso Bay Area I think, but that's just because I'm on the West coast and that is the only area I know of commonly referred to as 'the Bay Area'.

I recommend Pleasanton Infiniti at the Pleasanton Auto Mall (member of the Hendrick Automotive Group).

Recommend that you deal directly with the Internet Sales Director, to get your best deal. I bought my loaded (Premium, Navi, Aero, Sport) '04 6MT there in 04/04, and paid less than dealer invoice, with the Internet "discount" I got (this was also when 6MT's were hard to come by, and loaded one's, when you could find one, were selling at a premium price).

Also, service has been excellent there - no hassles, even when my 6MT needed replacing at 15,000 miles last month.

My $0.02

Bay Area Dealer Recommendation

I bought my car through a broker. I got a great price. Check out Hammerauto.com in Palo Alto. I got the price I wanted and picked up the car at his place.

I don't recommend Pleasanton Infiniti. They were rude and unattentive to me twice. My first unpleasant experience with them was when I was looking for an '03.5 6MT sedan. They didn't have anything in their inventory that matched my criteria (and I knew it ahead of time thanks to Infiniti's website). However, they did not even bother doing a dealer search to locate a car. They claimed that Infiniti's dealer network was not working so they couldn't check the inventory of other dealerships. They wouldn't even try using an old-fashioned telephone to call around! Since I had done my research ahead of time, I knew Fairfield Infiniti had a car matching my criteria. I immediately called the Fairfield dealer and asked them if they'd sell the car to me for $500 over invoice. They agreed so I made the drive and bought the car.

My second unpleasant experience came when I was in the market to buy an '04 6MT sedan last August (to replace my '03.5 which was totalled in an accident). Again, I did my research ahead of time and knew Pleasanton Infiniti didn't have the exact car I wanted but decided to give them a chance to redeem themselves. I walked around the dealership for 15 minutes waiting for a salesperson to approach me. Nothing, not even an acknowledgement from a salesperson who walked right past me. Later that day I called the Fairfield dealer who told me that they didn't have anything in stock close to what I wanted and didn't have anything on the way. I them called Pennisula Infiniti, recommended by somebody else on the forum, who had just sold the exact car I was looking for but had a similar 6MT sedan on order (without the aero package). I gave them a deposit over the phone, via credit card, and bought my car from them.

Actually, I had a third unpleasant experience with Pleasanton Infiniti when I took my '03.5 sedan there for service. Somebody had damaged the door threshold, or kick panel, with a very deep scratch. I almost had to argue with one of the service advisors to get them to replace it. He told me that's what the kick panel was for. I explained that I expected my car to be returned in the same condition I left it. They replaced it by swapping it with a car on the lot.

If another dealership was within the same radius of my home, and on my way to work, I'd go there instead.

I have a question guys...i'm looking for a used 03/04 G35c 6mt but i notice that most dealerships have them priced for around 34,000 and up...hell...one dealer wanted 40,000 for a modified one with intake, exhaust, wheels, etc. Whats up with dealers charging almost new prices on 03's? Also, i know about the brake/wheel/hp difference between 03/04 and 05 but how bout interiors? Did they change at all?

Elk Grove Infiniti in the Sac area

I bought my 03.5 (used) there for 4500 under the listed price. They also have a ton of 2004's still in stock. They were very nice and accommadating. They said that business is slow because it isn't known that they are there. Worth a call.

I got my '03.5 G recently at Peninsula Infiniti

Silver Sedan AT w/ navi and premium pkg @ 30K miles for 24.5K before tax, ttl, etc.

I would definitely recommend bringing to the dealership a copy of the best advertised price you can find on the car you want. Even internet prices are cool. Just bring in some sort of ad to have some leverage when bargaining for the best price.

Sorry to hear about your unhappiness with Pleasanton Infiniti, Fireball.

Maybe they are treating me better because I bought my car from them ?? Never thought of that (had no reason to), but that may be a factor. I always post a "DO NOT WASH" sign in the windshield, because I don't need swirls in my black paint, but otherwise the car is always in the same condition when I get it back that I gave it to them. Also, when replacing my 6MT, they apparently broke the plastic "titanium" colored trim ring that holds the shifter boot down, and replaced it with a new, metal aluminum ring (which come on the '05 with updated interior). The color matches pretty closely, and they warned me that this ring is fragile and may break upon removal prior to them starting the job. I've got no problems with that.

Also, I like it when I am not "swarmed" by salesmen at a dealership - I prefer to look around at my leisure, and signal a salesman when I want one, but I know other people like the rush and the attention they get with the "swarmers", so to each his own.

I will say that all the other dealerships at the Pleasanton Auto Mall (Acura, Volvo, Lexus, etc.) were the same way when I "wandered" their lots - no salesmen jumping in my face, just hanging back and watching me from the windows, etc.

Since I didn't buy from a salesman, but made my deal over the phone with the Internet Sales Manager, I can't speak to how they conduct themselves during a negotiation, etc.

Again, sorry to hear that you were unhappy, but my experience has been polar opposite, to this point. My $0.02 ....

I have recently noticed some swirl marks on my car. It must have come from the last wash that Pleasanton Infiniti did. I think I'll have to do what you do and post a sign in my car from now on.

I normally prefer not to be swarmed when I'm browsing a car lot. However, on this one occassion I wanted help but couldn't seem to get anybody's attention. Granted I did not ask outright but I walked the lot for a while with my wife and made eye contact with people who seemed to ignore me. I recently brought my car in for service, which only took about 30 minutes, and decided to look at the new M35/45. I was approached by a single salesperson who asked if I needed help and pointed me to a particular car. He then left me alone and told me his name if I needed more help. That was nice.

My experience was actually very good with Pleasanton Infiniti. I acutally called them before going there but the first price they gave me was 600 under invoice. Serramonte and Peninsula was starting negotiation from MSRP so I didn't have to deal with any long negotiations. Maybe they treated me so because it was over the phone and I wasn't at the dealer where they may have judged me....

All in all, when I went to go sign the papers and pay for the car, they treated my very nice without pressuring me to purchase any extras. I guess it really depends on who you get/talk to.

Try this: Go to the Infiniti website, build your car, search local dealer inventories all around you, and start e-mail asking for quotes for specific vin-numbered cars you found on the website.
Don't put down your phone number and specify for them to contact you only via e-mail. Ignore the ones who won't give you a price via e-mail and only deal with the ones who will.
Chances are, you can make a good deal on a specific car without even talking to anybody.
