To the dealership for alignment? I am a bit leary about the local alignment shops, and need to get my ride re-aligned after my recent lowering. Did the dealer do a good job?

 

I took my G to a Nissan dealer whose service dept specializes in performance upgrades -- they did an excellent job for me.
Turns out my alignment was quite a bit out before the install of Eibach Pro-Kit. It is now closer to coupe spec, but will need camber arms to bring in closer.

 

Cooooool....now just gotta find a good Infi dealer around here that can do it right...

 

I had a lowered 328i, nothing too extreme, just the Sport H+R springs and Bilsteins. I took it to the dealer (Wagner in Worcester, MA) for an alignment. They backed it off the alignment ramp too quickly and dented the floor pan. When I noticed the dent a day or two later they said something like "yeah that can happen" and explained how it likely occured. Not apologetic at all, more along the line of "oh wow, look at that". Real pr*cks. I had to convince them that, no the underside of my car wasn't freshly smashed by driving over something the same red color as their rack. At least they fixed it eventually.

I guess the point is to go to someone you trust (the dealer is not necessarily any better than an independent shop) and who knows your car's characteristics.

And look underneath your car when they're done .

you will definitely need to align your wheels and since you have oversized wheels, you have to make sure their machine will accomodate that size. Also make sure you get a printout of the specs. Since your car is also lowered it will be next to impossible to get it back to factory specs. Like BbyG35 said, eventually you may have to invest in some adjustable upper A-arms so you can get your ride back to factory specs.

 

Make sure they have a laser system.
There's still a lot of old systems out there.

Get it done as soon as possible.
You will be toe out after the drop. = tire wear
