Re: G35 vs. Maxima
I would say G35, but I do like the 02/03 Maximas with the 3.5 alot. they have very nice interiors and features and arent to big now the 04 is ugly and the interior is to gimmicky for me.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
I had 1990 Max SE, the first good looking change from the boxy Max in 80's, imo, Max became uglier each model since then. If I did not have my G, I will not buy Max just because its looks, It just doesn not have the elegant look as its cousin G.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
Front wheel drive is not for true sports sedans. It is up to the
individual, what kind of driving will he/she do. I owned a G20 and it was a great car but not a sports sedan like the G35. Same with the Maxima a real nice car, but don't use it to gun around corners, ain't made for it.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
The Maxima feels sloppy now because it is a cable linkage setup, as said over on maxima.org: like moving a screwdriver in a bucket of bolts. I had 96 5spd maxima and it was still the direct linkage style but the G35 shifter feels much better and more connected.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
Yes, I'd call a Lexus a Toyota. And I'd call an Acura a Honda.
The big difference is in the creature comforts and the level of service at the dealerships. In all other respects, the Camry and the ES300, for instance, are pretty similar. Or an Accord and a TL, or an Altima and an I35. Of course, there are some cars in each lineup that don't have counterparts in the luxury/non-luxury division.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
I went through this same thing too...this is my first post to this Forum and I am still waiting for my G35 to come in over the next couple of weeks.
I looked at and Drove all of the following which is posted on Maxima.org where I have been a member for a few years having owned two Maxima so far...
03 Altima SE...nice engine...poor quality overall
04 Maxima SE...Hideous Front End, IE, Grille, Lights and Low End Cornering Lights, I like the rest of the outside though. I hated the interior from the JJ Walker Felt to the Gun Metal Finish with all the angles in the middle...
03 TL Type S...Great Car, Boring to look at without Aero Package installed at Dealer, but overall it lacked some mandatory features like auto on Head lamps and it just didn't feel fast...
So I came to fall in love with the G35 Sedan...I drove the coupe, but need the extra creature comforts of the Sedan. Yes, the Maxima (Nissan Flagship so remember this) is an 04 and it has a bigger LCD Display for the NAV, 18" 245 tires vs. the pathetic 215 G35 tires (but I like the G35 rims more even at 17"), and as far as the Headlights, they are really close in brightness, the heated seats in the back and the steering wheel did not make or break me...the more wattage on the Bose is not audible enough for me to care and overall the G35 is such a gorgeous car with crisp handling that it really wasn't much of a decision at the end...oh and the price is so close that was not a factor either.
FWIW, over on Maxima.org, the biggest complaint about the G35 is that the seat controls are on the inside of the seat...so when you consider that, I think we're all doing pretty well.
I can't wait to pick up my car! Happy Riding!

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
I just gave back a 2000 Maxima May 1 (end of lease). It was quite bullit proof and reliable. The thing that bothered me most about the car was the FWD, and the somewhat cheap interior trim. To my mind, the G35 Sedan addresses both. I also find the new Maxima nose quite ugly. I live in the snowy Northeast, and the FWD wasn't much help in bad weather either. With wide tires, (I used 4 snows) no traction control (I had a 5-sp, it was not available) and plenty of power, it was too easy to spin the wheels.

Re: G35 vs. Maxima
Just got the G sedan (5AT) after 6 years, and 170,000 miles on my ' 95 Maxima (5sp). The Max was very reliable, nice power, comfort, etc...but I HATED the torque steer. I considered the '04 Maxima, but after living with the fwd for 6 years, and now have rwd, I'll never go back!! I'm in FL, so winter driving conditions are not a factor for me. The G's styling also won me over.... I'm in love ![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
