How far away can you unlock your car?
Just picked up my G35S. I've noticed that the range on the remote control is pretty poor. I've been unable to unlock the car from more than 25ft. How far away can you hit the remote?

This sounds strange, but point the remote up under your chin and hit the door unlock. For some reason it works from a lot farther away than normal. This really works.

With the contact from your body, your head acts like an antennae.[img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img] And you get radio signals that way too, no you are not going crazy when you start hearing things after this.....[img]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/img]
Just kidding, try it you'll like it. With all the wireless stuff transmitting these days it could be interferance from any number of things.

I managed like 50ft once, but I'd say 30ft is the norm for me. I'll try the chin thing, lol.

No kidding, I have unlocked and rolled down windows from almost 100 feet away, and that's without the chin trick!

Once you own the best, everything else is just the rest...

Last night I managed to arm the car from the top of the stairs of Cal State University which is really high overlooking the parking area. I did this repeatedly testing the maximum range. The car was really far away and I used the chin method. I estimate distance to be about 200 feet or more.

You might try putting in a new battery in the remote. I might have been sitting in the dealers lot for a while....I usually get about 50 feet of range from mine

G35/S/MT....this car rocks!

The chin trick and pointing at the car seems to make it even a little better. Although you get funny looks in the parking lot.

I find the range on the G35 remote is about half of the Maxima remote. New battery made no difference.

The range of the remote is one thing that I am not happy with. I just figure if that is the only thing then why complian...

I wasn't real impressed either. But it sounds like distances vary. Thanks everyone for your reply. Will have Infiniti check it when I take it in for it's first oil change. The only other problem that I'm having is the dim light on the clock. I just picked up the car last week. I would have expected that this would have been addressed since there is a TSB on it.

Didn't they rectify the problem by making the hands a little bigger, instead of the light brighter? There was a concern about too much reflection from a brighter light.

I notice that I get greater distance from the front of the car and not the back? Is the receiver in the dash or the trunk? Oh well mine sucks too-I only get like 20 feet

As for the dim clock light....
I brought mine in complaining about the dim light.
The dealer informed me the clock has been recalled.
They put a new one in that had thicker hands and correct
lighting. I't just fine now.

Hey Mark that is so true!! I had a 98 Maxima and the remote worked at far greater distances. Sometimes it worked form 200 plus feet.
