minor brake squealing

Hi, I've been an owner of my 2003 G35 since Dec 04, and I love this car, but lately my brakes have been squealing. The weird thing is that it only squeals as I'm about to come to a full stop (low whining noise starts at about 2 or 3 mph as i brake slowly). Braking from 60 to about 3 or 4mph is perfectly fine (no noise and brakes seem to work perfectly).
Does anyone know if this a major cause for concern? I'm going to go get this checked out with the dealer, but I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience.

Just go have it checked out at the dealer. 2003's get free brakes for the duration of the warranty.

My experience has been exactly as jaywa described. I have a 2004 G35X with about 3,000 miles on it and the brake squealing just started within the last week or so. I called the dealer yesterday and he confirmed that this is a common problem because of the type of pads and the accumulation of brake dust, but it's normal and not a cause for concern. He suggested spraying with a garden hose in the area of the calipers to see if that would help. I had previously done a search in this forum on this problem and someone else had suggested that too. I haven't tried it yet.

Never use a garden hose on hot rotors or they may warp or crack!

Allow me to enlighten you on my fresh experience. The squealing is because the brake pads are getting thin. Here is the kicker (so you don't freak out), eventually your brake light will begin to come on because of the sensors on the calipers, but only on hard stops. Then after that at a hard stop the VDC will shut itself off. This is due to the VDC using the brakes to assist the traction control.

Bottom line is yes....go to the dealer and have them inspect.

BTW my problems began at about 18500 and concluded at 19500 with the VDC shutting off

Warranty for brakes is only good until 36,000 miles. Go To infiniti tech help dot com for information. (Should be there)

Come on, if this was the case, there would be warped rotors all over the place, from driving through the rain, very cold water hitting very hot rotors!
