Broken Grille

I was at the Dodger game and it seems someone must have backed into my 2 month old G35. The small dent in the hood is not a problem but the bottom part of the grille is broken. Anyone know how much a new one costs? My deductible is $250 so it is probably best to just run it through my insurance. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Broken Grille

The grill is a plastic pop in. See how much the dealer wants for it before you turn it in. If it's $300 you are still going to pay $250. Check it out first and save your rates if you can.

IQ9 Not sure about what you mean by save your rates... Insurance companies can't raise your rates for making a comprehensive/collision claim if you are not at fault. I would recommend using the insurance policy and getting everything fixed right.

Re: Broken Grille

Watch your frequency on all your policies. Who told you that a "hit-n-run" claim is a freebe?

Re: Broken Grille

Sorry to hear about the "injury". I can tell you it's best to go through your insurance. I only had my G for 2 weeks and was traveling down the freeway and a big rig lost the re tread off one of his front tires, it hit the ground went under the truck, flew up in the air and smacked me right in the front bumper, hood, and snaped my grill in half! My insurance did not charge anything against me because they were able to file it under a comprehensive claim. My deductible is also 250.00 and it was worth it. The grill itself was 95.00 for the part and 125.00 for the labor. You mentioned you also had a dent in your hood, so did I. So to repair the dent and clear coat the hood with parts and labor was another 600.00. I had more damage than just this, so my total bill was over 5000.00. But just from your description of what got damage on your car, I had the same items so hopefully this info will be useful. I just had this happen in March so prices I can't believe would be too different and I am in Calif also. Good Luck

Re: Broken Grille

That claim wouldn't be a 'freebie' on my policy. It would be a claim and an 'incident'. Hardly worthwhile making the claim with $250 deductible.
According to 'Mydarkside', the grill is only $95, altho I doubt the $125 for install. I had my grill off last week to access behind, and it took all of 3 minutes to remove and 2 minutes to install.
If I were you, I'd do it myself and leave the insurance out of it.

Re: Broken Grille

Incident...Gsedanman..well put, very well put(just like company staff)! Insurance companies keep track of "incidents"-contrary to what some outside of the insurance industry might post on this sight. Remember kids, that we all work in different fields and some of us are required to be licensed to do our jobs. There are no freebes-a claim is a claim is a claim. Sorry

Re: Broken Grille

Thanks for the info. It would be covered under my comprehensive portion of my insurance so it wouldn't increase my rate. If the grille is only $95, I have a good body shop guy that will fix the dent for close to nothing. But if the total is over $250, I'm going through insurance.

Re: Broken Grille

If the claim is under something like "uninsured motorist" with a police report to prove that it wasn't you, then it won't affect your premiums.

One or two small comprehensive claims won't affect your premiums. But they do keep tabs.

If you make too many comprehensive claims, it will start to affect your rates.

Re: Broken Grille

Its not the type of claim its the number of claims and the cost of those claims. If your carrier pays money out on your policy...it counts...no two ways about it.
