KellyBlueBook & options

I was bored so I checked my private party blue book value for my sedan.

2003.5 6MT, no options, excellent condition, 9000 miles
bluebook = $25,800.

I was surprised it was that high! I had the car for over 20 months so that averages to only about $210 in depreciation per month. I got my sedan for $29,900 out the door. Wow.

Next i checked the blue book for a fully loaded G35. Premium and Navi.
Bluebook = $27,500.

So if i bought my sedan with navi and premium it would be $35,400. My depreciation per month would be $395! Of course you could get better discounts when buying with premium, but still makes me wonder if the extras are worth the price!

Sometimes people get options because they enjoy what the options offer and think of it as a cost of buying enjoyment. However you make a good point that options can come with a rather hefty price tag.
