M35...Under the hood

I recently had my oil changed at the Infiniti dealsership, and was able to take a hard look at the M35 they had in the showroom.

I'm not going to go into the whole car, just under the hood. I noticed on the M that the hood is supported by shocks, and nicely done at that. Also, I was astonished to see the factory covering for the brake booster along with all the other plastic coverings. very nice.

Has anyone looked into possibly applying those shocks to our hoods? I know they sell a JDM batter cover for our cars that will cover the booster, but the M piece was really well made.

I might have to make another trip up to the dealership and compare the M hood to ours. Would be a great aftermarket mod.

Any thoughts?

peace
mike

OUCH...that's quite a bit.

I might look into how the M has it and possible construct something of my own.
Hopefully the market for it will produce a few more.

Thanks for the link.

I like the tein ones..price wise. I could really do without the green.

From the looks of the ebay link, they are for popular cars. Since the G is becoming more popular, they should be out soon. Hopefully.

Guess I'll keep an eye out for them.

It would definitely be a nice touch.

Who needs shocks on the hood? I don't even open my hood and when I do no one is there ogling over my innards. I kept telling my GF this: "THIS IS NOT A LUXURY CAR" until she got past it. The prop arm may be embarrassing for you but it works and no one will see it except the mechanic and your closer friends that will forget about it when you punch it. And if it makes the G possible...death to all shocks.

and I bet the aluminum hood is good for .002 in the quarter mile...keep adding it up and you have a car that only v-8's can touch. I've heard the reason they did it was for the weight as they saved 10 pounds or something unverifiable with the AL hood and didn't want to add more weight in the front of the car. Every ounce matters I guess.

I heard that it ws because the aluminum hood can deform with the gas struts. There was a thread about this recently.

Yep - careful with those struts. They don't make hoods like they used to.
