Question G's slow?

I had an '05 350z but then some loser decided to hit me and give me a free tree in engine compartment mod, (total loss) so after driving the Z for a while i decided 2 seaters are kind of a bummer and I wanted to get a bigger more sophistocated car with the insurance money. I have always loved G's but I also like fast cars. I kinda bothers me that Z's s2000's late model 330's (i think)and the like beat G's. What do you guys think? Go with the G or something faster? ( i realize they are totally diffrent cars but thats my dilema performance vs luxury )
Also out of curiosity does anyone have any '05 0-60 or 1/4 mile times with a few bolt on's (exhaust, z-tube, CAI, etc)

Thats a good dilema but I think if your dilema is performance vs luxury dont get a G......But if you rethink it one of the best cars out there that offer you "performance and luxury" is a G35.... def get a G.

All those cars you mentioned aren't what I would call g beaters. I think they are all pretty close in performance and being beat by them is more a driver's race then anything else. Definitly go with the G between those cars if your only hold up is performance.

If you really want something to be bothered by, start comparing performance to an STi, EVO 8, or GTO, those will give you 4 doors, a similar price point and leave you in the dust.

if you got the cake get the M45. 0-60 in under 6 seconds I think as fast as the 350Z. 17-24 is the MPG...

Whoops. Wrong-o! GTO is a 2 door.

Thanks for the input guys! I never really thought about the M45 I always just assumed it was outta my price range. I dont really know much about them. Researching them certainly gives me something to do. I'm at work and thats what work is for looking up car stuff right?

How about a Mitsu EVO VIII or IX? There's a nice long thread here to help you make up your mind.

Evo

Yeah once again thanks for all your responses, I'm not really considering an evo or sti though. They both are certainly amazing cars, but i want something more upscale feeling. I know i will never be able to compete with their performance in any of the sedans I'm looking at without FI, but as I like to say, I will be comfortably be watching their tail lights. (my passenger smiles and adjusts dual climate control as our seats begin to warm up)

thefinalatk,

If I were to do it again, you know "buy the G35", I think I would take a second look at the FX. I like the new M35/M45 but the FX is one swanky lookin S-ute. And if you're resigned to being "comfortably" behind some faster sedans, I think it possess a nice mix of style, comfort and performance to keep you smiling for years to come.

Just a thought.

For under $35K, I couldn't (and still can't) think of a better performance/practicality/reliability choice than the G35. In your situation, the Coupe will offer you much of what your Z did, only it has seating for 4 and a nice sized trunk. The sedan (like I have) is (I think) the best true sports sedan on the market. My 6sp manual isn't as torquey as some would like, but the 298hp are fantastic between 30-100mph.

I love my car simply because when I'm alone I can pretend it's a sports car, but when we go to dinner with my folks, it converts back into a luxury sedan. Great overall package.

G35

I now have a lot to think about, but i think the G is the one for me. My buddy's 540 runs 5.8 0-60 I will make it my goal to tune my way past that I guess (hope it's possible!), because I love G's, obviously, so thanks for showing me all the angles!

If you think G sedans are slow, please read this thread:

A 330 is not quicker than an 04 M6 G, and I would imagine it is considerably slower than an 05 M6. Most S2000s cannot run under 14.0 in the 1/4. The new G has more power than the previous 350Z so again I would expect things to be close. Skeleton_cru's link is worth a look altho I would not expect to be running away from Z06 vettes as those cars are in a whole different timezone performance wise(imagine a 350Z with better rubber, bigger brakes, and 120 more hp). The S2000 is almost impossible to squeeze any more power out of without forced induction and whatever works on the Z works on the G. The difference is almost all in the 300lb weight difference and can come down to who's the better driver. Everyone looks at magazine times to decide if they can beat the guy beside them but half the drivers out there can't match those times and maybe one in five can beat the best the mags can do. It's all about practice and traction and knowing that you can't put a set of heavy 19" chrome wheels on your car and expect it to accellerate as well as it used to. You can buy an 04 M6 and put a supercharger on it for less than the cost of a new anniversary Z and WAY less than an new 330 M sport.
