That sounds reasonable... so long as everything in the back is green (no circuits or connections) it might work. I have some buddies in the engineering department (one is IEEE president here at my uni) lets see if he can second ur thought.

Ok so https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/55067-3800-8-miles.html you can see I bought a new car... While I was at the dealership and the papers were being filled, I asked to have a Sedan key so that I could open it up and compare with the 04's. I thought that they were going to have issues and not let me open up one of their keys, but Infiniti of Melbourne have some great guys in there! I was handed over one and I opened it up.

Apparently, I think the MOD wont work. This is the reason why...

(Here you can see that the buttons are closer together on the 05 sedans... well they dont seem to be off by much, so... I proceeded to open it up)

(I aligned the batteries and then racied both units, the lock buttons were aligned and I was happy)

(Now here, I begin to see the problem. The buttons show to be wider apart than what I was hoping for)

(Here you can see how when the panic buttons are aligned, every other button following it is farther and farther away...)

So there you have it... I dont know if this can be done or not, It might if there is a way to have the closer placed 05 buttons press the contacts on the 04 board... I did my part, now some engineer do your part and tell us lol

I asked (before I took pics) my IEEE friend about the antenna saving, and he said that if we shave the antenna to replace it with a cable, we need a cable of the exact same size because if its bigger or smaller, there will be no compatible signal transmision... not that we need to shave it as the 04 board fits the 05 one, but the button alignment and possibly battery alignment are a lil off.

NOOO man lol dont do this to me! Yeah well this task looks like on the impossible side anyway...

A friend has a remote LCD thingie, not sure if it is Viper... can you link me to a page where I can learn more about the Viper System? The LCD KeyFob my friend has is very big though... I dont like that. How big (and what shape) does the Viper one have? What are the benefits and ehm... u got pictures of it?

I like the Sedan 05 Intelligent Key just cuz of its looks. How good-looking is the Viper?

I looked at the old post, it looks too difficult to make it work, prob not worth it, I just thought it looked cooler than our older ones, thought it was just a programing issue.

First post (I’ve been lurking for months)

I think I have a solution.
This would work because the “Infiniti-specific” fob seems to use
self-contained button modules (switches), while the
generic Nissan fob uses a “pressure pad” printed circuit switch.
If I had a Nissan fob and an Infiniti fob to cut up, here’s what I’d do:
1. Shave off the copper "wire" that leads to the inter-locking contacts on the Nissan circuit board, 1 cm is more than enough (see red dashes in left image)
2. Glue the buttons from the Infiniti circuit board to the Nissan board to match the spacing of the Infiniti buttons. The glue should not conduct electricity because it sits on an area of copper that cannot be shaved off (see yellow box in left image)
3. Solder wires from the self-contained Infiniti switches to the corresponding points on the Nissan circuit board (as pictured by red and blue lines)
4. Place Nissan circuit in Infiniti case. If it is too fat for the other half of the case to fit, maybe a thinner battery of the same output could be used?
This may destroy your fobs, I’m a pharmacist, not an engineer.

can't we just go to the dealer and ask for a new key?

According to the G35 parts manual, there is a separate part number for just the case without the electronics. I don't know the price, but I'm sure they do that because it's cheaper. Just a thought...

Cover, Remote Keyless - Part# 285A0 5Y701
Print Board Assy, Remote Keyless - Part# 285A1 5Y701

That part is for G35 Sedan & Coupe 2003-2004. That should do it.

Thanks man. However, I think the cover needs to be for an 05 sedan. It needs to look like this.
