How often have CAI owners with the filter in the bumper found they've needed to clean the filter? I'm thinking my car is feeling a little sluggish of late and looking at the filter from the front of the car, it looks very dirty. It's probably been 5k miles since I installed it. I'll clean it anyways but I wanted to find out what interval others have found they needed. I guess it depends a lot on locaiton too, I drive occasionally on some very dusty roads which I guess would speed up the dirt.

Also, is it OK to use K&N's filter cleaning kit on the AEM filter? I figured it would be since they're essentially the same material but I figured I'd ask just in case.

 

Anyone? Was gonna go ahead tonight and clean it with the K&N stuff.

 

I have an AEM as well and cleaned it with the K & N cleaner.

I had the AEM on for about 6 months changed over to a different filter for the winter and before putting the original AEM filter back on I cleaned it and re-oiled it. Make sure you let it dry properly and don't over oil.
