New G35 owner questions-

Hey folks,
I've been roaming around for a while now and I have a few questions.

Ground Wires: What's the purpose?

Ideal aftermarket wheel offset-I have a G35x and I'm looking to purchase some 18 inch wheels.

Should I do the midpipe or does it drone too much?

Thanks

Better grounding can theoretically improve engine performance by improving the performance of the ECU, giving you more accurate electronic control of the engine during idling, high rpm etc. Also can reduce dimming of lights, etc, during starting for example. Midpipes and their owners can drone too much.

Ok but the mod is right - my attempt to be kind of funny didn't help the OP. And I certainly don't appreciate when I ask a question, and it gets ignored / thred hijacked. (Even if I rarely ask questions solvable by easy searches)

Can't help on the wheel issue... But as an EE - one of the basics of electrical system integration is having each part of the system working to the same ground potential. From cable TV reception issues - to hum on your computer speakers... Intermitent, incorrect, or multiple ground loops, can all wreak havoc with systems. (Although those are "earth grounds" - and have some different implacations than working with different systems operating at different voltage potential levels due to inadequate grounding.)

If I owned my G instead of leased, and intended to own it for 5+ years, I would likely invest in a grounding kit. I read the reviews and based on my experience in an unrelated industry... Well - grounding is important

That's one opinion. The other is that his questions could easily have been answered with a minimal amount of research. But hey, like you said, it's not nice to hijack threads.

MR. G, Thanks for the response. Exactly what I was looking for.

Skeleton_CRU,
Silly questions at first, I'm new to the G world, and I want to see what type of responses I get relative to the search results. A lot of times, people change their minds about a specific mod over time. Day one, they give a rosey review, day 90 they aren't so sure.
I see people go back and forth with respect to the original questions.

I suppose I was just curious about the advantage of using ground wires in a stock car with no mods, or rather if an advantage actually exists. I could have been more specific with respect to all questions. I thought most would just pass right over it, and those willing to answer would do so.

I have performed many an exhaust upgrade, and have usually found that when you remove something like a large resonator and replace it with a very small resonator or muffler, you usually have to compensate on the muffler side of things to the eliminate drone you produce as result of that mod. I would imagine the Coupe uses a totally different muffler design to help kill the drone, if you can. However, using the search, I found that most who made the purchase are all rosey about this mod. I was looking for an honest review.

The wheel offset question is a question I could have posted in the wheel and tire forum and I did find many search results there, though most folks have the coupe or non-X sedans.

I'll use more detail in the posts next time around.
The car is brand new and I just want to be sure that every mod I choose is worthwile on this car, as I feel it drives pretty damn well stock.
