Sport Z Magazine Editor-In-Chief a turncoat?!
A deserter? A traitor? Not exactly. I still (and always will) love the Z. But with my typical snowboarding season running eight months of the year--from October to May--I needed a vehicle to carve up inclement mountain roads like a hyperactive snowcat on a quadruple shot of espresso. So I ordered a G35x from Grubbs Infiniti and had it delivered to my home in Albuquerque, NM.
A couple items of note. This will not be a magazine project car per se. But as G35 readership in SZM grows, we hope at some point to start a project G. For those interested in contributing to the magazine--from article ideas (Gs we should feature, new products, tech requests) to writing feature stories--e-mail me directly at editor@sportzmagazine.com or hit up G35 Editor Dave Ochenreider at DaveO@sportzmagazine.com.
We just put to bed the newest issue of SZM; look for a preview shortly. With 280 hp eagerly waiting to tear out of the garage, getting out the Summer 2005 magazine on time took more willpower than I expected. Needless to say, I’m excited to have joined your ranks as a G35 enthusiast--it'll be a fun ride.

Welcome, Dave. Don't be too durned hard on yourself. They're both basically the same cars underneath with a few changes here and there. Hope you enjoy the new ride. They're a blast. It'll be interesting to hear what you think about the sedan vs. a coupe like the Z. Usually people are pretty surprised at how well the sedan actually drives. I still haven't gotten around to driving an X, but the 6-speed is great.
Happy motoring.

Welcome aboard- Can't wait to hear your perspective after some miles.
I've always driven manuals, but the auto (especially after some miles) is a nice piece.
After about 2800 miles, I'm a big fan of the AWD feel on this rig.
Obviously hope you reconsider making this a project car. I'd be great to see what a supercharger, bigger brakes, and suspension would do for the x

G35x 05 Silver -Mod nothing yet, just some different tires.

Dave, welcome to X ownership. I got my X a few months ago and drove it home in a snowstorm. It handled perfectly. Now that it is springtime here in PA, I am still loving the way this X handles. I did a few mods here and there, and would really like to lower it. However, at this time, nobody makes a sport shock up to the task of a lowered car. I'm looking forward to your opinions of the car after you have owned it for a while. From what I have experienced so far, it's hard not to like the X.

Thanks for nice welcome! Actually, I've had the car for about a month and have been putting gobs of miles on the X in a number of different conditions--snow, slush, dirt, sand--to get a feel for how it drives in AWD situations. Getting through the break-in period was like going on a date with the hotest girl at school AND her dad. Now that I've driven it at WOT and ditched "dad," this car is near impossible to get loose ... and it's so deceptively (and devastatingly) fast. I'll have more on my G in upcoming issues of Sport Z.

Looks like I am gonna have to suscribe to yet another magazine! LOL. I do think the car is quick. Definitely faster than the 2003 Maxima I replaced. The car is also a lot of fun to toss around in the dry. Just turn off the VDC and find some twisties.

Welcome aboard. Let us know which upcoming issues are going to have articles about your G. I'll have to go pick one up at the newstand.
