Why? Do you know any?

I work with a small (~50 person) police department on a daily basis. I don't know most of the street cops, but I've gotten to know the officers on up (corporals, sergeants, lieutenants, captains and chiefs) reasonably well over the years. The vast majority of them are good guys doing a tough job under terrible conditions. Just like with any group of workers, there are always a few ****** that try to spoil the lot. But overall the ones I know I like and respect, and I think they try to do the best job they can.

I dislike it when people generically disparage any group. I find it particularly crass when someone takes cheap shots at people who put themselves in harm's way so his neighborhood can be a little safer.

Or there's a third reason. They tried to become a cop and didn't make the cut. Rejection can make one very bitter.

Oops, did I let the cat out of the bag?

Let me guess you never broke any traffic laws, you were just minding your own business, driving down the road and you got pulled over for no reason whatsoever?

So first it's ALL cops, then it's SoCal cops, and now it's PB in San Diego cops.

Troll, noun, definition 1. in Scandinavian folklore, an ugly manlike creature that lived in a cave or under a bridge.
Internet troll,
Trolls are recognizable by the fact that the have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly
creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of
life on the net.

As a member of the finest law enforcement agency in the country, if not the world, I can assure you we don't have quotas (at least not in CA, they're illegal) and the revenue from the ticket goes to the city where the violation was commited. We write tickets to seek compliance and reduce the mileage death rate. With our agency, we have no way of knowing whether someone has already been given a verbal warning unless we have pulled that person over on more than one occasion. As for me, my decision to give someone a ticket comes after I have contacted the violator, not before. Many people talk their way into a ticket. Be honest, would you seriously consider changing driving habits if all you got was a verbal warning? But if you got enough tickets that would put you in danger of getting your license suspended you would most certainly stop for every stop sign and drive 5 MPH below the posted limit. Although, I have seen people with about 5 priors for driving on a suspended license continue to drive like they are the only ones on the road. That's why we carry those "special bracelets."

Just remember, we don't have quotas, we can write as many tickets as we want.

It's true, no quotas. But look at it this way, the CHP patrols our states highways, right? It's their job to enforce traffic laws. Giving out tickets is just a part of their job (among other things). If they didn't hand out citatations they wouldn't be doing what they are supposed to do.

There are plenty of people that violate traffic laws every minute of every day. So much so that the CHP has their hands full without having to invent crimes and frame citizens. The fact is, if you get a ticket you were breaking the law. Deal with it and stop whining.
