Pulled over by a cop
Pulled over by a cop
The other day, I was pulled over by a cop for making a "dangerous" left turn. After realizing that I was with my 4 year daughter taking a trip to the neighborhood park and appeared harmless, he "waived" the ticket, gave me a stern warning, and left. I assumed that he was probably "car" profiling because there are quite a few younger drivers in the neighborhood with a G35 who drive a bit more aggressively. Any other experiences?
Well I guess you're lucky than. My wife was driving downtown and a cop pulled her over for going "55 in a 40 zone". This was her first ticket ever, before that she had a clean slate, the cop reduced the charge to 10 over the speed limit so no points would be taken off....she wants to know if she should fight it, cuz he didn't even give her a warning for being her first time, he just gave her the ticket. Then again it could be cuz he saw a 22 yr old driving a G35 and didn't really care cuz he had to make his monthly quota.
My wife is pissed, not cuz she got a 40 dollar ticket, but this will go on her record, and this will not help with our insurance due to the fact that we're both under 25, insurance is a killer!!!

I wish cops would wave first time violations..........I wouldnt bother fighting it, if she was speeding then she was speeding. Im sure everybody speeds from time to time....its just a matter of if/when we get caught.
As for the insurance.........your right, its INSANE! Im lucky, I am 32 yrs old still with a clean record....I havent got "caught" yet
I've always thought that unless it was a crazy offense, cops should waive the ticket for people who have a clean record. The problem is that nobody would ever get tickets because nobody would ever get that first one since I don't think a "warning" is tracked.
Can the police track when they give you a "warning" only?

Wife: "Your Honor, you should find me not guilty because I was never given a warning"
Jugde: "Weren't you driving 15 MPH over the posted speed limit"?
Wife: "Well, yes but..."
Judge: "Guilty! Now you must pay the full fine plus all court costs. Goodbye".
Take responsibilty for your actions. It's nobody elses fault if you get caught violating traffic laws.
Ok, well this is my first post after owning my car for two months and being on this site for about two months also. I think I can safely say I have the most experience with this type of issue.
Fighting the ticket will do nothing, you broke the law it doesnt matter if its the first time. Go to court and plee guilty and ask for supervision. If he grants her this, and he will since the ticket is for only 10 over, it will not be on her record after the supervision period as long as she doesn't get another ticket in that time.
If you want to ask me any questions please feel free. I know this will probably start a lot of replys but I'll say it anyways. Since I got my car two months ago I have recieved three speeding tickets, and none are on my record.

I fight all my tickets, even the ones I deserve. Taking responsibility has nothing to do with it. 99% of all traffic tickets are for REVENUE not safety.
Pay an attorney $150 to get your moving violation knocked down to a non-moving violation, which should save your insurance increases. Most of the time my attorney has been able to deal with the prosecutor.
Insurance companies GIVE radar guns to the cops, what does that tell you? They often refer to them as "Geico Guns". The locals get the revenue from the ticket and the insurance companies get you with higher premiums.
Just my opinion, but I would rather pay double the ticket and save the increase in insurance. The Math: $100 ticket + $150 attorney = $250 today vs. ?? increase in insurance tomorrow.

Actually if the cop gives you a written warning instead of a verbal warning, you will be recorded in their computes and the next time you get pulled over the next cop will see the warning given by the previous cop.
