Nankang Tires

I'm ordering some HP HPR5 hyper silver rims and they are offering Nankang NS2's in a wheel and tire package. Anyone had the Nankang tires as I might go with another tire if this isn't acceptable. I'm sure their good tires just that I never heard much on them. Any advice is appreciated !!!!

Johnnie...

Nankang is a Chinese brand of tires...relatively new to the U.S. market (about 5-6 years now).

They're not bad tires, but mainly sold for their low price. Thats why they're the tire of choice for most online/mail-order wheel&tire package deals.

If you're looking mainly for a "good deal" and just want to upgrade your wheels for looks...they're totally fine.

However, if you care at all about performance, then I would suggest you spend a little more and at least go w/ Kumhos. Those are also relatively inexpensive, but provide good grip & predictable handling. They're nowhere as sticky as premium brands such as Toyo, Falken, Nitto, etc...but I think a great balance of grip & durability & price.

Hope this helps... ^-^

If you up for Kuhmo go for the 712s they were designed to compete with the Pilot and they do very well for about 5K and then they get noisy. Try Toyo Proxes 4 great tire-great price.

The Nankangs actually have weak sidewalls. I got some 19" Axis Milano's and cheaped out on the tires. Bad mistake. I don't drive too hard in my Z but I do corner a bit hard every once in a while.

One time I took a hard turn and heard a grinding noise. I came out and saw the lip of my front driver's side wheel scraped. Apparently, the tire sidewall must've collapsed.

no no NOOO no nankang please. WHat sizes are you running? If you go for 18's I assure you to get nothing but the Kumho MX. They are pretty cheap and handle AMAZING. however, if you want INSANE handling pull out the $$$ and go for the Pilot Sport 2's. Ive had both and the Kumho's are veryyy close to the Michelins. Kumho does not make the MX's in 19's yet that I know of, but if theyre 18, then go with them you will not be disappointed.
