2nd oil change coming up...question...

Hello all,

For you guys that bring your car back to the dealer, do you just go in and ask for "let me get the 3,750 mile service, or the 7,500 mile service, etc?". The reason being I bought my 05 X in Christmas 04 and so far it's been through one oil change when it had 1700+ miles after 3 months. It'll be 6 months at the end of June and I'll probably bring it in for my 2nd oil change. Currently only has about 2800+ miles on the car and when I get my 2nd oil change probably looking at total of around 3,500 miles (low miles)

To make a long story short, I think I should just go in and ask for an oil change right? I mean on the manual, based on 7,500 miles or 6 months which ever comes first, it includes replacing wipers, rotating tires, etc. I am sure the wipers are good for another year or two. Plus, I wouldn't want to waste a dime rotating the crappy Turaznas. Also, AWD don't need to rotate as often right? since it's driven more evenly on all 4. Therefore I do not believe I need anything else aside from an oil change.

I might be jumping the gun since it's a while before I have to do inspection. Does dealer charge the regular rate of $35 for inspection at their shop or they charge a little more?

Thanks...

Just do the oil change. Most of the other items you can do yourself. Check your tires for eveness of treadwear. and if it looks like they are a little different, do a rotation. Even on a AWD, the fronts tend to wear differently than the rears. Replace the crappy Turanzas with decent rubber. It makes a huge difference in the way the car feels.

Most Infiniti dealers charge a bit more for labor rates than even the Nissan dealerships, so if you want to save a little bit, you can call Nissan to see how much they charge for the same thing. Of course, they won't give you a loaner though.

I thought about replacing the Turanza's but then new rubbers example: avon 550 m/s would run about 700 bucks or more plus installation. Still alot of money. Seems like a waste to toss out the Turanzas. I believe Nissan charges a little less but if it's ony 10 bucks or so difference, it's ok. I do not believe the Infiniti dealer I go to gives loaners for oil change.

Just ask for an oil change. That's all you need right now. And no, don't rotate the wheels.
