key fob - remote
I've got a new 2005 G35 Sedan with the I/dogbone shapped key fob/remote. I missed the older tear drop remote fob (it felt smaller, turns out not by much...), so I thought I'd try and see if I could use the older remote. Turns out it works just fine. I used the instructions at:
http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi...am_key_fob.htm
My original remotes are labeled KBRASTU15. The older remote I got off of ebay was labeled KBRASTU10. If you try this make sure you re-enter all of your remotes. (The car can only support 4 active at one time...)

I did not use an oval 'intellikey' remote. I used a keyless entry remote from an older model ( 2001/2003? mine actually has a nissan logo on it instead of infiniti. $19 on ebay, plus shipping), it's tear drop shapped.
Yes, now I have 3 working remotes. 2 of the original 2005 Sedan dog bone remotes, and my new/old daily remote (the nissan tear drop remote/fob). All three are working properly.
Several of the tear drop remotes look the same, but have different FCC IDs. The one I used was labeled:
Model/ 01A
FCC ID: KBRASTU10
I doubt other ones would work, the FCC IDs look to be a different class/group.
Note: If you follow the programming procedure and only enter the new remote, all the original factory remotes will be erased. You must enter all remotes at the time of programming. Starting the procedure will automatically erase all previous recognised remotes. (Makes sense if you lose one and want to make sure it can't be used to open your car. The same sort of logic applies when you get a new key, or just want to lock an old key out...)

I was disappointed in the non-Intellikey fob. I'd just handed the salesman my Altima trade key and fob, and when he handed me my new G35 fob I thought he'd made a mistake. Same fob (KBRASTU15).
My wife's $19K G20 fob (KBRASTU10) IMHO looks more elegant than mine. A minor complaint, but still... God is in the details.
