Thoughts on the Sport suspension
i am trying to decide what i want more....
i have test driven both....what are yall's thoughts?
too harsh? not stiff enough?
for someone who has had it for 2,000 plus miles, still feeling good?
why didny you get the sport suspension?
thanks guys?

drove the non-sport on my test drive, went with the sport eventually.
I only have ~500 miles on my G which means i'm still in the break-in but the sport is pretty rough on the highway--you definitely feel every piece of gravel and pavement but on the back roads its been a dream
The non-sport still had a good feel from what I recall from my 10 minute test drive but not near the stiffness of the sport

I have 4400 miles, and I still love the sport option. But then, I didn't even test drive the non sport, 'cause I wanted to 18" wheels. If you don't mind a stiff suspension, and love to drift around the corners, go with the sport option.
I've got a 2005 6MT with sport suspension. I did not test drive the sport suspension before I ordered my car. The 1st week I thought it might have been too stiff, after that it was great. Now at 1300 miles, I wish it was stiffer. (But I like it very tight/stiff, my 2 previous cars had upgraded suspensions). Try it for yourself before buying, also consider where you drive. (The roads in Texas may be a little bit less weather damaged and easier on the ride)

I wanted the Sport. Bought a new 04 (without the pkg) at a good price. Now I am in the process of upgrading the suspension. I drove both and think the difference is very noticeable in turning response and body lean while cornering.
If you want to squeeze the maximum on-road performance out of the G35 go with the sport suspension. I've upgraded mine and though the ride is firm, it's also very rewarding when pushed hard. If you want something softer and are not as concerned about performance, then the standard suspension is what you want. I have put about 17K miles on my car.
Make sure the test drive cars have the correct tire pressures in them. Some new cars are delivered at 40+ psi for some reason, which obviously will make the sport suspension harsh and the non-sport more sporty. I have the '05 sedan with sport and thought it was a little harsh until i checked the tires and found them at around 45 psi. At 32psi it's a nice tight package but still smooth over the concrete seams, etc.

Not sure on the 05's, but the 03's when i was buying did differ between the sport/non-sport a bit. The non-sport was definitely softer, no question about it. But the sport, while being a little stiffer and with less body roll, still REQUIRES much modification (essentially: replacement) of the suspension for any real decent handling gains. I paid the $400 extra for the sport coupe mostly for the wheel upgrade, which is a very decent deal.
Don't regret not getting sport. Ride is stiff enough on these south Texas collections of potholes we call roads.
Stock suspension performs great and you can still push the hiney out with your right foot if you want to.
If I wanted a larger wheel/tire it would be something of my choosing. It definitely wouldn't be the upgraded wheels that come on the 05s. I don't particularly care for them. Maybe a set of the M45 wheels.

'05 Sport is a good compromise
It's definitely stiffer than the stock suspension. Your butt will pay for it on rough roads, no doubt about it. But it's not overbearing, and there's enough compliance to make the compromise reasonable. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. If I'd wanted a Lexus, I'd have bought one.
One of many reasons I pulled the trigger on the '05 model sedan were the 18" wheels and wider, gummier, low-profile tires. The (sounds funny to say) small, kinda puffy, sorta narrow 17" 55-series tires on the standard wheels always looked too small for me. The base sedan is undertired. When I owned my Altima 3.5, I found it a little funny that the G35 with its $10K price premium ran around on the same-sized Turanzas as my downmarket FWD Accord-wannabe. Heck, a few guys on Altimas.net with four-cylinder cars used the stock G35 sedan wheels and tires as upgrades.
Infiniti did a good job with both the base and sport suspensions. If you lean toward the aggressive, get the sport. If you prefer a more compliant ride and don't mind the skinny stock tires, go with the base.

while i want the sport, i do not want people to get in the car and say" oooo i dont like this car, it rides rough" type thing....you know?
i have a 90 mile roundtrip communte everyday and enjoy driving and listning to music--usually come home and do it some more, but again, if it is somthing where i will have 4 riding in my car and thinking the car sucks cause they feel uncomfotable, then maybe it isnt for me, however i am not buying a car for them...does anyone undertsand my ramble?

I got to drive the non-sport from a loaner a few weeks ago. I think it's a matter of preference. I like to feel the road and the sport suspension give you somewhat of that feel. I recommend like the others to first drive both before you make you purchase.
ive got the sport, but to me its still WAYY to soft. so much body roll it kills me. i love it when it sticks to the road. coilolvers, sways etc on order. nothing compares to how my Z stuck to the road. did some maneuvers that i did not think was possible in any car under 90k

Wouldn't have it any other way.
