I am becoming very concerned about the G35 after reading numerous posts about premature brake pad and rotor wear as well s speculation that Nissan "corrected" the brake wear problem by going to a harder pad. It seems to me that Nissan should be able to find a brake supplier (Brembo for example) to supply brakes that will (1) stop the wheels and (2) last at least 45,000 miles before pad replacement (front). BMWs haven' had problems klike I am reading about on this list since the 1960s!

I had just about decided to buy a G35 but will not unless I am satisfied the brake issue has been solved.

I think you should stick with BMW. We don't work for Infiniti you buying or not buying a G35 means nothing to us.

BTW an update the new shake was the back brakes. New pads and rotors on the back too.

When this is on my dime I am definitely switching to a harder pad!

I don't know what the pads were changed to, but I can tell you, the brake dust issue is not a problem on my '05, and the brakes are not touchy at all on this car, the brakes are far smoother than my '04! I don't know, BMW's sure seem to have a ton of dust like the '04 G35 had

"05 probably have a combination of a few things. I have read that the rotor is bigger this year. The pad compound has been changed to something harder. The speed sensitive brake assist feature has been dialed back a bit.

My pads were changed out and rotors turned at 25K. Am I worried when it comes to changing them on my dime? Not really. There are plenty of aftermarket options out there for brakes. If this continues to be an issue, Bendix and Raybestos will be hot on the trail with normal price replacements which can be bought at pep boys and auto zone.

Yes, the rotors are bigger, about an inch, both front and rear, and the front calipers are larger as well, that makes sense that the speed sensitive assist is dialed back the way they feel.

Listen to this person.... I had a v6 camry and had to do brake jobs every 50k and each time they turned the rotors, they were warped within 4,000 miles. They never warped before they were turned. So they do take a small amount off the rotor and if you do a lot of highway driving and need to really get on the brakes, it is almost certain that new rotors are required. If the original rotors are warped before they are turned, you can be sure that they will get warped again.

Also get the calipers checked.
If they are not working properly you can get more pressure on one side of the rotor.
= uneven loading, heat & warp.
