I never looked at the 300C and ended up owning a Midnight Blue Magnum RT.

Go figure.

Strangely, the HEMI Magnum we drove was the metallic midnight blue, with gray leather interior. We liked it but I knew I wouldn't be able to keep my foot out of the HEMI... It's hard enough to go easy in the G.

yes, they share some suspension parts, but please don't confuse them. There is no compariosn to the feel, fit, finish, and refinement. The mercedes is decades ahead of the 300c/magnum.

I looked seriously at the 300C and the magnum. I am coming from an E320 Wagon. The interior is so cheady on those car it is just sad. Nothing about felt like my mercedes...nothing. Not even the ride, which is surprising considering the shared suspension. I just couldn't get over the interior....too much of a downgrade.

Another thing, the last gen E-class was fairly light (by mercedes standards). These Mopars are so much heavier. The Hemi magnum didn't feel any quicler than my 3.2 V6 mercedes....at least not 60 mph.

Fianlly, the new G35 is a much better car than the 300C. The 300C only wins on legroom.

The styling and the hemi are sweet. I guess if you can get over the terrible gas mileage and the old school big sedan feel it will do fine.

QuadCAM,
u cant compare the HEMI with an E320...a 300C hits high 13s 1/4 mile...the e320 probably hits high 15s..HUGE difference !!

Thought about it. Drove one. I think DCX hit a home run on styling. Performance good, but there's lots of cars running mid 14s.

It's been forever that Chrysler built a reliable car, and probably 8-10 years since MB did, so I doubt a marriage of the two will make the a 300C anything but a big reliability and quality gamble. I might be able to get past this, and just roll the dice, but I couldn't get past that cool-in-1965 motor.

It's a crime that Detroit still insists building pushrod motors with iron engine blocks. Such an antiquated designed necessitated the "displacement-on-demand". How well do you think that will work at 30k, 60k or 90k miles?

Had DCX used the MB 5.0 or 5.4 OHC motor(s), then I'd consider it further. Until then, it's my opinion the 300C has value only as a mediocre boat anchor.

Any car that is not made in a stick I bypass without any other thought. My #1 requirement in a car is that it come in a stick.

I think Chysler's quality is right up there with Nissan. I bought my G35 in 03 so the 300C wasn't an option for me but I would have considered it if it had been. And don't start talking G35 quality with all the rattles we hear in our 03's. Brakes wear out ever few thousand miles and a lot of people have cars that shake.

I had a Dodge Magnum RT before the G35. It was actually a very nice car. But I really wanted something more fun in the curves. I felt I was too young for the car, and never hauled anything or anyone around in it. So I decided to trade it in while I still have a couple of years left without kids (started to feel the window of opportunity closing in). When I do have kids, maybe Illl get another one or something similar. I wanted to get a sports car while I still could. But that 400lbs of torque was fun! Plus it had Bluetooth, Boston Acoustics speakers, a better NAV system than the G (by a lot), power adjustable pedals, and pretty comfy seats. Here are some pics...

Ahh....Much better!

That's a good question. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a top-line Honda Odyssey with the cylinder cutoff feature, but a German Chrysler? I might as well just hand them a blank check and say, "In three years, write yourself what you want. Go to town."

Anybody remember the Cadillac V8-6-4?

On topic: I took a 300C Hemi around a parking-lot course at a Chrysler Ride & Drive a year ago. I was thoroughly impressed in every way and gave a few fleeting thoughts to buying one instead of the G. But there's no manual transmission option and I'd feel 54 rather than 34 every time I got into it, so I dismissed the idea pretty quickly.

I consider the 300C to be an absolutely beautiful car - on the outside. My problem is that it's still got a Chrysler interior ... I don't like the steering wheel, the dash, the gauges, any of it. Too many bad rental car experiences, I guess Each car on your list has many plusses and just a few minuses ... if you're feeling the 300C, then go for it!
